I want to make it a Streetfighter

Hello fellow Ninja riders. I'm new to this site (kind of.. I've perused it many times before but only recently registered). Do any of you have any experience trying to go "naked" with your 300? Or going "streetfighter"? I really like the naked/streetfighter look. Anything would help. Thanks :D

Yeah I've seen the naked version. But I'm looking to have a more custom bike - streetfighter styled headlight, bar end mirrors, smaller (or none at all) windscreen, chopped fairings, fender eliminator, et cetera...

^agreed.

I would grab an old bike and do it before I would chop up a brand new one BUT in the end of it all, personal preference plays into this decision.

Just not quite my look :p

I LOVE a nicely done bobber bike...but not out of a street bike.

Yeah, you gotta go with a cruiser if you're going to go in the bobber direction. my idea garage would hold:

Honda Rebel 450 bobber
1970 Triumph Bonneville cafe racer
Ninja 300 naked.. or streetfighter(ish) (only because I already own this one lol)

Besides, a 300 is not really a "fighter", but if you are just going for looks and you like it....then do it. Its not up to us what you do, its up to you..... via i'm painting my white ninja a different color because I want it that way.

save yer money and buy an older bike to mod or one that is already in that style. If you really have the 300 in your sights and money/time to burn then make sure you post pics!

Seriously though, to do it right would probably require a bit of custom modification and headaches. A lot of sport bikes that I see people try and transition on their own end up looking sorta shoddy. I personally have always like the looks of an old Honda CB500 cafe'd the fuck out. I know its not the same as 'streetfighter' but the older CBs are cheap to buy, maintain, mod and much easier to have them turn out looking original and good.

Here's a link I found to a guy in a forum that did his '08 ninja 250. It can give you an idea of what it might end up like...

One of our guys is deep into Cafe's, and he has noticed that their pricing is creeping up quite a bit. Especially will all the TV shows about them now.
You can still find some out there for some cheap $$, but he says the old " dollar per cc " figure has disappeared.
And agree with Ninja... seems to be some older 250's around for not bad money.

I thought that a "street fighter" is a chopped version of a racer / sports bike like the original chopper was a chopped version of a cruiser.

Both meaning, get it as light as possible by removing the parts a bike essentially don't need to drive (i.e. no back seat, no lights, no plastics, no counters, etc.)

Naked bike is just a sport model without the plastic.

hahaha that would make sense. that's how the trend got started, from what i understand. it's become more of a "custom look" now though. i started taking off the fairings this weekend. i am digging the potential i see. the engine and headers are too beautiful to be covered up by some shiny plastic, in my opinion.

A few well placed bits of aluminum to add some cover to those mounts/holes would go a long way. I smoothed a older Ninja 250 tank back a few years and covered it in Rustoleum spray truck bed liner. Looked awesome. I think it is on Ninjette's pics page, or one exactly like mine anyway. Chopped tail too.

Whoa, there's a lot of streetfighter style here in my country, mostly, it came from the old 250r model.

Too extreme?

Are u goind to strip your new 300 into the naked one? U better bought the Z250 kit, it's around $699.

those look pretty sweet. a little extreme for what i'm going for. i'm also trying to not spend a whole lot of money. i'm thinking more naked than streetfighter i guess. i want to replace the headlight with a single round headlight and replace the instrument cluster with both analog tachometer and speedometer instead of digital. the fairings are off on my bike and the only thing i really don't like is the white plastic fluid jug on the right side, but that's nothing a little black plastidip spray won't handle.
