Thanks for the write up and the vid! That was well put together.
I bought a stardust white ex-demo model, and picked up the seat cowl for a bargain as it was used on the demo too.
The bracket may be annoying, but really I think it will be quick to remove and put the passenger seat in.

My cowl needs to be pushed down hard enough to start compressing the suspension before it clicks in.
In turn, it needs to be pushed down on before the key will turn....
It's also difficult to to put on because there's nothing to help line it up, you slip it on the rear catch but it can still pull forward of the locking hole.

On the plus side... It offers a LOT more room to hide things in the trunk. The seat had that plastic on the bottom that hung down but the cowl is just a hollow hump.

I like it better than the seat, but it's still not worth the money I paid. It should fit as easy as the seat and not require a bracket that removes the capability of using the seat.

Thanks for install video, I like the look of the seat cowl but have a question, and this might be an obvious answer, but I've never looked into seat cowls before, does installing the seat cowl for the 300 mean that you no longer have access to that small storage area or metal loops (I use them to lock helmet to bike)? The video seemed to indicate that once snapped in place, the key lock under the tail would not pop it loose as it does the original seat.

My OEM seat cowl has a space so that you can still use the helmet hook. Doesn't really change the storage area much either. And you do still use the key to pop it off.

Aftermarket cowl

So I bought this seat cowl for my 2012 built ninja 300 se.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281206402071?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Either I'm more retarded than the doctors say I am...or this cowl doesn't fit.

Photo shows what the new cowl looks like just sitting unfastened ontop of my rear seat.

Without removing parts off the bike, I can't imagine the cowl I have fits in any way. It looks way too long.

The item is listed as a 2013-2014 EX300 cowl, and I have a 2012 EX300. Surely the cowl design didn't change?

Help.:emot-bang:

that's the completely wrong cowl. looks like it suits the 250R model.
check out my cowl I have, you'll see the black rubber is different and this has more angles, not as smooth.
because it's ebay, did you pay with paypal? you should be able to get a full refund as the product you were sold does not fit the EX300 model - even though he said it does.

:iagree:

Design did not change. You got ripped off mate. Contact Paypal and request a refund, contact ebay seller first asking for a refund. If nothing, leave one star for feedback on everything and reduce their seller rating. Ebay sellers hate that, especially the Chinese. They will bend over backwards to stop their ratings being reduced.....and trust me, they will bend over backwards.........those Chinese are really flexible.

"Rear Seat Cover Cowl For Kawasaki Ninja ZX250R ZX250 2008-2012 EX300 13-14 Green"

The bit in bold above, is what they have added in to the title on purpose to get people to have this listing come up when searching for Ninja 300 or EX300. Chinese are sly, and sneaky....I know we have about 50 of them working for us. As a note, only 2012 and above Ninja 250 stuff generally will fit our Ninja 300's.

Just buy one from your dealer. I paid 150 dollars for mine, well worth the money. At least it will be genuine, and if anything is not right, it will be replaced.

Thanks boys.

I thought as much but figured I'd account for the dumb factor first.

Initiate dispute sequence.

Just installed mine! not to difficult, it locked down ok a bit of force, a laugh how they have paid someone a lot of money to design this, press out the brackets etc, when simply using the same base plate as the seat would have been best,

Lil disapointed with the internal paint surface, the bracket was all scratched and the weight of the rubber back rest is insane! but all and all looks better than a seat :woohoo2_smilie:

And it is a genuine Kawasaki part, the green tint difference is just the bad photo hahaha

Does anyone else besides me prefer the factory padded seat cowl over this one? I have a green SE and it's just too much green for my taste.
Couldn't agree more. That's why I replaced the front fender and tail section to ebony. Throw in an SE seat cowl and viola! The way it should have rolled from the factory floor ;) The factory cowl pad is fine but this thread doesn't do the replacement any justice at all.

you mean 2013. Since this design did not exist for 2012.
