well im finally getting round to getting mine swapped, hopefully, bought mine thru these guys

http://www.motorcyclesuperstore.com.au/on-road-accessories.html?vmcchk=1

feel free to look thru their helmets & make some suggestions as to what you think i should get. price limit is $300 though

i like the AGV K3 Dreamtime, but Koreo said in another thread he has had a few dramas with his, so now im having second thoughts about it.

have look & give me some suggestions , im keen to hear from the group

nice , that was a good review too does a good job of showing off the helmet, but im an all weather rider, i will go googling & see if i can find out how it stands up in the rain

*sigh*

man do i know how to pick motorcycles & gear or what. first off i pick the KBC VR-1X helmet & then the Ninja 300 & both are now in for recalls , lol

i chased up toady about getting my helmet replaced. the store in Brisbane that is part of the team moto group said i can get it replaced no worries next time i goto cairns i can get it replaced at their shop in cairns.

and the carins shop wanted a photo of the inside of the helmet at the manufacture sheet. i did that & chased it up today. they are going to back in touch with me on monday cos they reckon its not all helmets, even though my helmet was bought in august 2012 & the recall say 2012-6 which to me says 2012-june so my helmet is part of the recall.

*sigh*

bloody hell.i said the lady i was speaking to today in Cairns, you know what, im a married man with kids. every day i put this helmet on & put my life on the line to ride to & from work to earn a living to help put a roof over their heads & food in their bellys & clothes on their bodys. if i was to have an accident & have my brain splattered all over the road what are you going to tell my wife & kids, uuumm, gee sorry about your husbands death, but we could have prevented it if we just gave him a refund & he bought a new helmet

*sigh*

if they jerk me around i will talk to the ACCC and best of all, they have an office right here in townsville as well

i have been looking thru the team moto web site today again , been looking at many reviews as well, man there is some good stuff around the $300 mark., as for my Cruizin shades, i never leave home with out them, lol

The only thing that has me leery about that AGV is that in the link you provided it says it only has 1 shell size. Meaning, if you don't have a giant meatball for a head, too bad, you're gonna have to wear the giant meatball helmet.

The bell Revolver has been known to be a decent helmet for the price point but has been said to be pretty damn loud. Even for a modular. Still think the Shark might be the best of the three you have listed.

#20 ·
well thats sux, that takes the price even higher & i just cant go over $300

*sigh*

so that puts me back to the AGV & Bell. the bell is noisy but i have no idea how noisy, but i wear ear plugs when on the highway if im going to go for a decent ride so the noise doesn’t bother me

i might get the AGV cos i cant see anything else in their line up that interests me at team moto or fits my price range that seems to be half decent

the bell has dramas with the magnetic chin strap falling to bits after about 50 uses, read many reviews with people complain about it.

cruizin I just saw this thread, ive got the same kbc helmet bought around September 12 at a yamaha/kawasaki dealer in Melbourne. Is it too late to return it as the recall was announced in May? I assume the dealer that stocks KBC helmets should know about this. What should I do in case they dont? Cheers

#26 ·
do you still have a copy of the receipt? its not too late to return it. im in the process of trying to do this now, i have been so busy with other stuff i have only just around to it.

if the store stuffs you around, the people to talk to is the ACCC

im still riding with this helmet as it is all i have.

forgot to update this. team moto have been in touch with the manufacturer & trying to find out of it is part of the recall or not.have sent them photos of it last night of outside of helmet as they requested. should find out today as the manufacturer date on the inside of my helmet is worn off

well once again i have had to fight my way to the top of the corporate ladder to get somekind of decent customer service. long & short of it i have had a number of phone calls back & forth between team moto & the importer of the KBC helmet & today i had the importer ring me direct & tell me they are going to replace my helmet. this is great news. i purchased my helmet only a few days before september 2012 and im not sure if it is faulty or not & no one can prove either way if it is or not, so common sense prevailed.

along the way i had a chat to the ACCC and i put it in to writing, i fired this letter off yesterday & today it is getting replaced.

If you have missed my previous posts, then you need to remember

***writing letters of complaint / dissatisfaction work***

it might take a week or even several months as i have proven, but it will work.

here is the email i fired in yesterday to team moto in Cairns that got the ball rolling

======================================

To the Manager of Team Moto Cairns

Last year i purchased a KBC vr-1x helmet from Team moto in Brisbane in late
august 2012.

i recently found there is a recall for this helmet

http://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/accc-testing-reveals-unsafe-motorcycle-helmets

and im genuinely concerned about my personal safety while wearing this
helmet, hence the reason for this letter.

I spoke last week to an employee of your store, #### & she has been quite
helpful in tracking down information about this issue for me.

$$$$ on Friday last week 23-08-2013 asked for a photo of the safety label
that is inside the helmet to which i supplied and you can view it here

http://users.tpg.com.au/raepcs/userfiles/vr-1x.product.recall.jpeg

$$$$ said she would talk to the manufacturer about the issue & my concerns &
get back in touch with me & she did that on Tuesday 27-08-2013

$$$$ asked me for a photo of the outside of the helmet to which i also supplied

http://users.tpg.com.au/raepcs/userfiles/kbc%201.jpeg

$$$$ called me back today 28-08-2013 & has informed me she has spoken to the
manufacturer & because the label where the date is in the helmet is
unreadable the manufacturer wont take the helmet back under the recall notice
as the manufacturer has stated the date should still be viewable after
wearing it for a year as i have done.

Im stunned at what the manufacturer has said, i would have thought that
perhaps some common sense would have prevailed & they would have supplied
your store with a refund of my purchase price of the helmet so i can purchase
a new one thru the Cairns store as i will be going thru Cairns in a few weeks
when i take delivery of my new motorcycle.

My issue about this is really my safety in an accident. If im involved in an
accident and i die or have permanent brain damage and the helmet is found to
be faulty & hasn’t been replaced, then what???

Does KBC get in touch with my wife & say "gee look, um , sorry about your
husband’s death, we should have listened to his concerns when he said
something in August 2013 & here is a cheque for the purchase price of the
helmet he bought. Have a lovely day & thanks for shopping with KBC helmets"

Is this how business is conducted now days??

No one cares till someone dies??

Or are we all so wrapped up in selling stuff we don’t care about our
customers any more??

Are the days of good customer service well & truly dead??

I have taken my concerns up with the ACCC - the Australian Competition &
Consumer Commission & taken their advice & put it all in to writing & have
"cc" them in to this email i have just addressed to you so they too can also
follow it up as well.

I look forward to your reply on this issue

Regards

i had a chat to team moto in Cairns as well & asked them about a few different helmets that is on their web site that i listed above, long & short of it i was told they have some dramas getting a lot of the helmets listed on their web site, so after even more talking this is what i asked them to get for me

We need to change your name from Cruizin to Bitchin'. Or have the admin change your title from super moderator to super bitcher. Like an old wife, you can make it work. :D

You are looking into getting rid of your 2013 that you modded and getting a 2014? Seems a bit soon to be going to the same bike with a different paint job.

a shame team moto don't sell kabuto helmets, i highly recommend those ones, lightweight, comfy and best of all, they have a slit for the sunnies to go in so they don't squeeze against your head (i wear my sunnies 24/7 pretty much)
