These are only modulators, you still need to buy the LED brake light too. 1157 bulb

Your cost will be a bit higher to do this mod.

buy plug and play one here

modmy250.com

i ordered mine a few weeks ago. im more then capable to modify the wiring, but im not interested in doing so.

when mine arrives , expect a video of it
I had this exact kit on my 2009 250. Worked great, and took 5 mins to install. I was unsure if the new 300 would use the same connectors, so I left it on the 250 when I sold it.

Please update us once you get yours in.

i already have had a chat to the man who runs modmy250.com it fits and is compatible with the ABS model, hence why i bought one

Silly question but does anyone know if these are road legal in NSW (AU)? I was under the impression that red flashers were only for emergency vehicles only.
It's a great idea and I will probably get one if they don't result in me getting a ticket from the boys in blue.

i have not been able to find any laws that say we *CANT* have them in australia.

mind you i cant find any laws that says we *CAN* have them either, lol

having said that, i know a number of local riders who have them fitted to various makes / models of bikes and have never been pinged for it, nor have i heard of any riders getting pinged for it either

the closest i have ever come up with this this lot with their headlight modulator
http://www.safetysolutions.com.au/motorcycle-safety-gear/pathblazer-headlight-modulator

A headlight modulator causes your high beams to "modulate" or pulse, from full bright to about 20% of power at a rate of four times a second...and yes, it's legal in every state and territory in Australia.

as for tail light flasher.... i dunno how legal it is, but reckon its a bloody good idea though

Great write up! ...I just wish you posted a link, or entered what part number you used for the led light bulb. Can you please supply that information? Is the bulb plug and play, no other hardware is required, correct? ...yes, I read it's a 1157 bulb. But I would like to know the exact one you purchased. When you google led 1157 bulb, tons come up. Thanks! ...oh, and modulator purchased!

1. Get your modulator, a led bulb, side cutter and needle nose pliers.

Is it required to swap the bulb for an led or will the stock one work? Not a big deal if its needed but that pretty much takes a $20 mod and makes it a $40 one lol. Saving money ftw B)

It's a led modulator so yes, you need an 1157 led bulb.

I still had access to my old 250, so I went and took the modulator off.

It does indeed work fine on the 300, but they moved the connection to the tail light. Instead of being under the back seat as on the 250, it's now under the front seat.

It's also under the silver metal bracket that the seat slides into.

So you need to pull the 2 side covers, pull the seat, pull the bracket, then finally unplug the socket for the tail light, which also happens to be the white one furthest back.

While the 250 had plenty of room for the connectors and the modulator unit itself, it's a bit tight under the bracket on the 300, so you'll spend a bit of time making sure it's tucked out of the way when you put the seat bracket back on.

All in all, it took me about 15 mins, for one it was the first time I pulled the side covers and seat, and then I had to find where the tail light socket was on the 300 and then remove the seat bracket.

So there, I just saved ya 10 mins of time. :) Sorry no pics, I had everything back together by the time I thought of it..

Rushian, thanks so much, when i get mine i will make a small video of it on the 300 and where it connect it to. the owner of modmy250.com told me the connector was under the seat, but not in as much detail

So. I received the LED in the mail today. I do not have my modulator in hand yet, but I figured I could plug in the LED tail light until the modulator gets here.

Well... This LED light does not function like the halogen that it replaced. When plugged in and the bike is on, the LED light remains off. When you apply the brakes, it does light up (red, not white). I'll see what happens when I get the modulator and wire it up. I hope I didn't buy a $25 bulb for nothing! :(

I was able to source the same bulb with a modulator built-in the bulb itself. No need to do any wiring, just replace the stock bulb with the new one. So easy, even a caveman can do it :D

Autolumination.com, 60 LED with modulator

THE BRAKER FLASHING BRAKE LIGHT BULB
The BRAKER strobes brightly for a few seconds every time you hit the brakes.
.........After a few seconds the lights stays bright as long as your foot is on the brake.

60 Red 1157 High Powered Leds $29.99 EA.

Great... really? Where was your post awhile ago? :D Now I've paid for a $25 led light and modulator... when I could have a plug and play blub that does the same thing??

Well it worked! That led bulb must not function properly because of power output. But when I installed the modulator everything was A-Okay... More that that, I'm very pleased with the modulator and bulb. And a plus about this vrs the plug and play type is that this modulator works with up to 300 LEDs. So if you can find a bulb w/ more than 96, like the one above then it'll still work.

... Or even if you splice in strip LEDs, it'll still work.

Very pleased for this $40 mod.
