Hey guys, I just got a 2014 Ninja 300 abs with a blown engine as my first bike(I am new to this). I replaced the engine and as I was at the final step of putting oil in I over torqued the oil drain plug and cracked it. Good thing is I have a whole nother engine with an oil pan. Can I use a used gasket or do I need to buy another one?(For the oil pan)

Is there anything I should know or be careful about before starting a used motor in my bike?

Thank you for anyone that helps it will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

The old gasket could work if it's in good condition. However, a new one is much more advisable. It shouldn't be too expensive.

Re starting the used engine, only common sense. Make sure oil and coolant have the right level, air filter is clean and tight, double check the torque for every bolt and give it ta try. Let us know how it goes.

Post a picture of your project!

I have reused oil drain washers on all my vehicles forever. Never an issue. Just tighten carefully with a short wrench by feel and without using a torque wrench. Copper crush washers can be renewed with a propane torch, a trick shown to me by an airplane mechanic.
