Someone backed into my bike again a week ago on Friday in a Starbucks parking lot and knocked it over. Thankfully, he came inside and found me and gave me his insurance papers. This is the second time that this has happened since I bought the bike 10 months ago. Only cosmetic damages on the M4's and a cracked lower cowling. Oh and my bar end mirror is shattered. And scratches on the bar end and foot pegs. The insurance guy came to look at it last Wednesday and once again I had extreme favor with the guy. He gave me a total of $2,955.78 for parts and labor cost to fix it myself. $1,722 of that was just for the mufflers. He gave me the cost for the 2 oem mufflers, (one cost $900+ and the other $700+) and obviously my bike has M'4's on it that only cost $476 for a brand new set. So he gave me $1,722 for $476 dollar cans. :wink2:
The last time this happened to this bike I got around $2,500 for the damages and made it look unnoticeable again for around $150.

I touched up the bike with some paint that I had today. Particularly the M4's and the engine cover above the cracked lower cowling. Also replaced the glass in the CRG mirror with a glass replacement kit from Revzilla for $9.11. I've ordered and am still waiting for a replacement lower cowl for $100.01. I think I'll just leave the M4 cans as is beacause its not real noticeable. I can replace just the end cap on the worst one for $62 down the road if I want to. So, total insurance compensation= $2,955.78. Total repairs cost= $109.12. Total cash in pocket= $2,846.66. Not too shabby! Someone do it again next week! ;)

How are you parking that your bike is constantly getting run over in its parking spot?
should we consider you lucky or unlucky?
Haha. Neither one bro... I prefer blessed! :grin2:

The first time i was in a normal 'lit' parking spot next to a curb towards the end of a parking lot where I work, and nobody parks there.. It was weird how the lady ended up backing into it. This time around i was actually parked in an old bank terminal that is connected to the Starbucks and the guy who hit me was parked across the way in a parking spot. Again, it was weird that it even happened. He had to back out of his spot all the way into this unused bank terminal to even get close to my bike, which was unnecessary for him to do that to back his truck out. Weird. Nevertheless, I'm glad it happened! :grin2:
Kudos to the guy coming in and finding you after he backed into it, it's what he should have done, but plenty of people would have just bailed hoping noone caught their plate.

This reminds me of another thread here where the guy was caught on camera running over the bike and refuse to admit fault

Yes, I'm very thankful he came in and told me. Its funny because when I walked in the Starbucks I stopped and turned around and was watching my bike because somebody had stopped in their car as they were pulling through and was just sitting there looking at it across the way there. Then the guy that acutally backed into it came out of the Starbucks to leave and we greeted each other as he passed by me. Then I walked in and ordered my drink and a few minutes later he came back in and found me. So yeah, I'm very grateful he was honest and gave me his insurance info and took responsibility. I believe it'll come back to him if something like that ever happens to him because he was honest with me.
Beats me. I have been riding motorcycles for 52 years and I have never had someone knock my bike over. Good for you that you made a "killing", however someone is going to pay for those incidents. Either you or me or some other motorcycle rider. You don't think that the insurance company is going to "eat" the expense. They are in the insurance business to make money and they will "get their pound of flesh" you can be assured of it.

Haha! I had another guy on the Z1000 forum say the same thing! He was like, "brb, I'm going to Starbucks!" :grin2:

Then I had another guy comment on how happy I was about my bike being knocked over and he said, "I'd be cryin like a baby the whole time the insurance guy was looking at it and then smiling all the way to the bank afterwards!" :roll2smilie:
Wow. Glad the guy at least had some honor. Can't believe your bad luck there, NC.

So what are you gonna do with the winnings?
Well, I sold my Bell Qualifier DLX helmet and ordered the new Bell Star helmet with a the money from that sell and a couple hundred from the 'winnings'. I'll prolly end up paying off a credit card debt that I've had for years with the rest. I'm gonna sit on it for a couple weeks and think about it though.
