Cut the oem brake line bracket in half and flipped it upside down since the new line/caliper runs closer to the tire. A bit of paint marker to cover the bare steel and presto!

I also ordered a domino throttle from carpimoto. I know the MP throttle cables will be too short for me and since with Domino I have the option of making my own length cables rather than fight with MP to get what I need. They cost the same so I’ll just return the motion pro…

Motion Pro will never admit that they didn’t supply long enough cables and I don’t want to have to fight back and forth with them about it or spend $150 for custom cables so I’m hoping this domino works. On every video and picture I’ve seen the cables are plenty long to mount them anyway you like. My luck, they made them for the Ninja 300 stock length lol.🤣

Agreed. Better off to start out with something that doesn’t have a known issue. Especially if the vendor has a good return policy.

I’m hoping my badgering them will help inform their decision for ninja 300 kits in the future. But only time will tell.

Yeah for sure. I got a response from MP and it looks like you are dead on. They designed it that way they said, just like Spears designed their Brembo brake banjo's so you have to grind them to fit the caliper. Lol. 🤤

Hi Justin,

The cables included with this kit are designed to be routed differently than stock, and the throttle housing will mount with the cables on the underside of the handlebars. I’ve attached the instructions for the Ninja 300 here.

Thanks,

Justin Means

Motion Pro Inc.

I know the Ninja 400 kits use long enough cables so I bet in the future they will use them for the 300 kits. I'll do a little side by side comparison between MP and Domino since I'll have them both at the same time...

It's pretty clear that this was an afterthought. Noticed after they packaged the kit. Bit of a bummer, since I have bought some great products from MP. In fairness, they did right by me. But it was clearly reluctantly :)

I don't have the energy to fight with them about it plus you guys don't want to listen to me bitch haha. Hopefully the domino will work, even if I have to run the cables on bottom I don't care as long as I can get the clearance I need to make it all fit in the right place. I have no problem with motion pro, I have used lots of their stuff in the past thats why I bought it. Just our luck that it happened to be the Ninja 300 throttle kit that they whiffed on. Screw up the R3 throttle kits, those guys don't mind.😁

Got my window links, these things look very beefy and should work well. With the 4 and 5” rods, I have enough adjustment to go from “WAY too high to WAY too low” lol

Also got the Rev3 kit. Not sure what this “put away” tag is for but maybe I’m not the first person to have to return it😂

The kit looks very well made and one benefit over the Domino is you have more cam options for adjusting your throttle throw but it’s clear that the supplementary “Ninja 300 install instructions” were an afterthought since they made the wrong size cables and didn’t want to fix the issue. Other than that I’d be happy to use it but hopefully the Domino kit works better. MP wants you to route your cables direct from the throttle to the throttle body in a straight line right over the cylinder head. Seems wonky to me, no thanks.

The included cams are a nice touch. I’m starting off with the progressive until I get my track sea-legs. Then I can swap to a short throw cam.

But based on the cable issues, there will be a MP woes post coming up as well :)

Nice, I was thinking the same thing, I'll try the progressive at first (Domino comes with a progressive cam too). Parts Giant sent me a shipping label to return. They wanted me to pay return shipping until I explained that I didn't just change my mind, the throttle is wrong and unable to be mounted correctly. Just because MP says they designed it to mount all wonky doesn't mean it's correct. Anyway I'm good to go, I'll return it and hope the Domino fits, if not I'll get the universal cable...

The way the oem throttle cables were routed was already absurd enough, kinked through the center of the frame like that. MP took the cake though, just run your throttle cables directly on top of the motor lol. Should get that Domino kit by end of week. It just left NY 😎

Dammit all to hell! The Domino cables are the same length. I don’t understand why every other bike you can mount an aftermarket throttle any way you want but they all make them oem length for the 300?

At least the two cables on the Domino leave the throttle housing separately and you can position them how you want. I might be able to use the stock routing and run each one around the brake line on either side. You can bet your ass I’ll try haha. I may be biased now but this does seem a little better quality and by all accounts these cables come with a lining inside that never requires lubing (most say they feel smoother than MP too). Who knows, it wouldn’t take much to be smoother than oem.

I suppose most people buy these throttles for the quick turn so routing doesn’t matter to them. But when you buy it specifically to route the cables up top its a kick in the nuts lol. The quick turn feature was just an added bonus to me.😂

That sucks. I’m really not sure either why these companies don’t first slap them on a bike and check... and THEN package the proper length. Wouldn’t take but a second.

When I ended up getting the extended cables from MP, I think they were an additional 70mm. That is NOT and insignificant amount.

I would think they would make every set an inch or two longer than stock at least to make routing not such a pain in the ass.
I couldn’t resist the urge to go out in the shop to see if itll work and it will just fine. The way both cables go in separate gives you options on exactly where you set them. I’ll make these work. I think I’ll route the cables through the frame hole like stock but run them behind the fork tube and should be out of the way of everything🥹

Glad to see it should work. I think you’re right - the flexibility of the cable entry/exit makes this more likely to work at stock(ish) length.

I forgot to mention that when I was communicating with MP, I sent them a photo showing the throttle body end to be almost exactly 50mm shy of the comfortable fit. They responded by saying they thought it would be best to add an additional 20mm to that measurement. So clearly they were seeing what I was seeing - and more! Just not completely willing to admit this would be an issue for anyone wanting to route the cables like any other install :)

I was trying to avoid routing them like oem just because it seems foolish to have 3-4 bends in the cable. Then again, I never thought the stock throttle was bad, it felt fine to me so I am sure this one will feel silky smooth.

These Domino cables have a small plastic (teflon or whatever it is) sleeve that encases the actual cable so that's why they must not require lubing...
