Does the sound change when you pull in the clutch?

How tight is your chain? A tight chain isn't good, and can make odd noises.

Be sure to check it with the wheel in at least 4 different locations, as the tension will change. Set the proper tension at the tightest spot.

What oil are you using?

Not sure what would create the sound, but I would try a different oil next oil change. It would be odd that it would make a difference, but it would be worth a try.

I like Mobil 1 4T 10W-40. Shifts beautifully in my SV, unlike some other oils I've used.

Do you use the synthetic? I’ll try that. I may end up doing another oil change just to make double sure it looks okay since the noise started maybe 200 miles after the last oil change.
I use synthetic in everything.

Mobil 1 4T 10W-40 is full synthetic.

Mobil 1 oil filters are very good as well, and you should be able to cross-reference from the Kawi part number.

That eliminates something simple like oil then. It would be odd that an oil would do what you described, but stranger things have happened...

I believe there is a possible clutch issue with the Ninja 300 that may explain your issue. You may want to search around to see what you can find about it.
