Hey guys i bought a universal FE kit off ebay and i was wondering how exactly to install it. I unscrewed the stock fender and helmet rack thing and its just hanging by wires. do i just need to cut the wires and splice the new ones in or is there a better way? Just a little leery on chopping up my new baby. On the topic of flasher relays and resistors what is the best/easiest/cheapest route to go, or is it even necessary? And it doesnt fit flush with the tail...should i bend it in a vice or just add a spacer?

You need to take the bike apart if you plan on saving the wires.. Also need to take it apart to change the flasher relay if you need to..

Do you plan on using the stock turn signals?

Not really, im not exactly sure if itll fit to be honest.. I did just notice that the led signals it comes with have 4 resistors in each do you think that will solve the problem?

yet you will need to splice them into the factory wiring.. I would personally not use the resistors, but you will need to find a led relay.. I got mine from cycle gear..

Makes sure you splice them good and not ghetto,
Butt splice with solder and heat shrink or ideally replace the entire wire, but like cbzdel said it means a bit more work

I actually used water resistant bullet connectors on mine.. It helps if you ever need to replace them or just swap them out for any reason.. Sucks when you spend some time soldering them and then all of a sudden they die or you want to change your style and you have to rip it all back apart.

Good point! Can you remember if the flasher relay is 2 pin?

2 pin correct.. I got a universal one which just had two wire leads and then I crimped on some spade connectors and plugged it into the factory wire harness, I hate modifying stock connectors so I wanted to keep it as simple as possible..

We don't get error codes if the flasher is hyperblinking so we don't really need the resistors. A flasher relay will fix the problem.

So after you unscrew the 4 bolts is the next step to cut the wires? I plan on using the stock blinkers and can't figure out how to remove them from the housing.

I decided to NOT use the stock blinkers. I couldn't mount them well enough. So to get the blinkers it came with to work i'll need a 2 pin flasher relay correct? would this work?
