Rode an hour and a half to my dealership for my 600 mile service. Rode and hour and 29 minutes to my house. Turned onto my street and happened upon a patch of gravel...mid turn...right as I rolled on the throttle. Didn't notice it until the bike was on top of me. Literally. Gear shift lever: bent too much to shift, front left fairing: scratched to hell, SE graphics: trashed, front left turn signal: scratched to hell, left bar and clutch lever: scratched moderately, rear seat: torn, rear left fairing under the seat: scratched, me: battered, bruised, and pissed at myself for not paying more attention. Lesson learned for sure.
On a related note, I took off the shift lever off and pounded it into shape again (new one is on order), got the bike to shift through all 6 gears. Rode the bike around and it seems like the only damage other than the shifter is cosmetic. Interestingly and frustratingly enough, my bike would not start this morning. I think the battery is dead. Pretty sure the guys at my dealership left the key in the "on" position for a long time. Awesome. Pics to come
