i'd say personal preference. I bought some off amazon... and looked at it... fairly unhappy with it. havent installed it yet. its skinny, i think i'm gonna go for a wider one as well.

I got 7 mm from Cycle Gear. Think its the Metal Masters brand.

Tried reflective red from cycle gear. Tried 2 different rolls. **** kept tearing and breaking no matter how I did it. Bad part was I took off my nice white tape to put on the reflective red so I now have bare rims again :/ ordered reflective red from the same company as my white tape, getting my money back from cycle gear.

I wasn't a fan of cycle gears either. Kept tearing on me too. Maybe it's a patience thing. I just ordered some 10mm off a website (precit strips) But he took a week to ship em out. Irritated me.

Ok yeah definitely a patience thing.

Mine was flaking and tearing before I would even get it on the rim. Before even separating it from the backing! On both rolls! I'll just stick with what I know works and looks good... and is 9mm instead of 7

Slow and steady... and have the bike on stands. It was fragile stuff, there is no way it would have worked with the bike on the ground.

I had 2 tears on my first try, found that it worked better if I applied it in a downward direction. applicator at the 3 o'clock position on the rim and turn the rim counter clockwise.

Yeah I was doing mine on the ground. Oh well. I'll have my really good rim tape in a few days.

Yes plenty have done it without stands.
If you have someone else that can sit on the bike and you apply the tape,
they can roll forward or backward a little at a time.

If you do not have anyone to help you can do half the rim at a time
since most rim tapes come in 4 pieces.

If you have the applicator you can use a razor blade to cut the tape
and roll the bike forward or backward that way.

Rim tape is ghey
Always has to be someone and Dnbltn takes 1st Place today.
What does it matter if someone else wants rim tape? Are you riding it?
Does it hurt you in any form or fashion?

Who cares what others do to there bikes. Thats what makes it there own.
They bought it let them do as they please even if you do not like or agree with it.

Freedom of expression

Always irks me to see someone crap on something someone else does.

Dont like it dont post.

Anyone have any pics of rim tape installed on the matte black 2015 ninja? Mine was just delivered the other day, was gonna go with red tape but after seeing the bike in person i'm not sure it will suit the new black. Thinking white might look better.
