Hey guys,

Can anyone give me advice on riding with my wife on the back? I've got 7 years riding experience on standard bikes but only the odd few miles here and there with a passenger.
I know most of the basics because we've got a little 50cc we use together to get to the beach, but the Ninja is a whole new ball park.
We plan to travel together, around town and the occasional freeway coast to coast in FL (FTL to Naples 70 miles on a 70mph road).
I'm 5'9'' and medium build and my wife is 5'4'' and slim build.
What kind of speeds can we expect?

Start stopping sooner than you normally would.. Me coming from a 600 2 up stopping was just as easy as solo stopping, but on the 300 you have 1 less rotor and caliper than on a big bike so stopping really takes longer when you have the added weight.

Also make sure your wife leans with you in the turns.. I tell my wife to pay attention and prep for leans in the corners.

The 300 has grab handles under the rear fairings, so so can grab those when your slowing otherwise she will slam right into you.

As for what kind of speeds can you expect, you will easily reach freeway speeds even with 2 up on this bike.

I hit 100mph on the speedo with a 130lb passenger, I am 200lbs.

The bike cruises comfortably and accelerates great with a passenger. Noticeably slower than riding alone, but not an issue at all.

I don't like my passenger reaching under the fairing I prefer she keeps her hands around my stomach or on my hips. When you slow she can put her hands on the gas tank to brace herself so she doesn't slide forward into you; really I am stocky enough that I don't have any problem with the weight of a girl pressing against me when I am slowing down, but if she was a big ol girl she wouldn't be on my bike in the first place

Thanks for the info guys.. I am about 5'7" 165lbs and my wife is 5'3" 120lbs.. It's good to know that the 300 could easily handle our weight and still have enough speed for freeway riding.

I appreciate the tips as well. After reading these posts to her, she nodded her head in agreement as she has rode on the back of a 50cc with her mother back in Brazil. We are both excited to ride together once we purchase the bike! :)
