Did any of you park on the sidewalk (overnight, chained on a traffic sign) to avoid being hit by a dumb driver thinking he's driving a Smart instead of a van? If yes how many of got a ticket and how often?
How much is the fee tho? Were you blocking anyone or pedestrians?I did that for about 2 months when I had my Fireblade. No tickets for 2 months. Then one day, I get a ticket.
Then again and again! I think they would've towed it if it weren't for the Kryptonite chain attached to the parking meter.
I stopped doing that. I parked it right in front of work so I cam keep an eye on it through the front door.
I did it because:
My work station was right next to the big glass window in front of the store, I just felt better knowing I can see my bike anytime I looked out that window.
Nowadays, without parking meters (nyc went to paper inside windshield system), you won't be able to put a chain on something unless you do it at one of those "no standing from 9am - 7pm" signs.
I have a feeling they will tow bikes nowadays if it's parked on the sidewalk.
