Wow, hefty thing, 506lbs! Surprised to see it's an I4 too, I would have expected them to take an existing twin and punch it out a bit. Maybe they just took the Z1000 motor and reduced the stroke?

The GSX 750 weighs 463lbs wet, and the FZ-09 is 409lbs. How does Kawi think that a 506lb naked in the 700-900cc class is competitive?

In Europa you can buy that bike since 2013 ^^, maybe thats the reason why its heavier than the 2014 Z1000 ?

EDIT: Yeah, the bike is heavier because its a upgrade of the Z750 (redesign), whereas the Z1000 is a complete new product.
Moreover the Z800 has a steel frame, the Z1000 one made of aluminium

Yah, crazy... they must have removed some of the light-weight components of the Z1000 and used heavier, cheaper components for the Z800 to keep the costs down.

Ah, so it's not based on the Z1000 then.

I upgraded from the 300 to a 2013 z1000.. If I were to do it all over again I wouldnt change a thing. Why upgrade to a Z800 when you can find a Z1000 for cheaper? I got mine with 750 miles on it and M4 exhaust and a warranty till 2018 for $7,250. And yes, the z1000 has an aluminum frame like the Zx10 so it is lighter. Beastmode!!!

It is taller too. Short riders forget it!
At 5'6" with about a 29" inseam, I was on both tiptoes.

The Z1000 was shorter!
