Is there any difference specifically on the headlight (placement, size, etc.) between this year models? If i buy a 2013-14 headlight, would it fit with my 2017 model?

You are looking for part number 23007-0196 and or 23007-0174. They're both the same thing but one substituted in to the other around 2015 if memory serves correct.

Yes 2013 -17 are the same thing. Also 2015 - 18 Versys 650 and 1000 have the same headlight.

Every time you need to know if a part is usable on other years models, you need to check the part number. Be aware that in the case of painted fairings, the part number changes with the colour.
