Well i decided to bite the bullet
I rode yesterday from Knoxville to morristown LOL yes i know 58 whole mile
but guess what then i had to ride back hehe
Anyway as you know i am not comfortable on highway yet
so i took 11e most of the way up
the first 40 or so miles i was pretty much locked in at 45 to 50 mph
then something just "clicked"
I know that sounds weird but all i can say is one second i am puttering
along at 40 the next thing i know i downshift to 4th revs go up to about 7k
the bike tracks like a cruise missile and i feel like that pig on the zip line
going WEE as my speed starts going from 40 to 60
I am just trucking it up the road i glance down at the speedo and i am pegged
at 58 which is actually 3 mph faster than the speed limit and i am tracking
solid.
Anyway just curious if anyone else had a point when they just "clicked"
On the way back i take 11e all the way down to the exit before 640 then
i get on 640 the wrong way so i have to make a u turn i get on 40 and
just crank it down around 55 which for me is HUGE and i am just grinning
like a cracked up monkey and in my mind i can hear "Nia" (my bike) telling me

"Just trust me baby I got your back"

I think everyone hits that point where you're no longer concerned about every little detail about your riding and you just start having fun. Nice, isn't it?

Ah, love it when you talk dirty like that, Im still in the break in period, but am adding more miles everyday, soon I will be in your shoes, I cant wait. Even just running through the gears, and getting up to 45-50, is awesome, cant wait till I can open it up and start traveling to work at 65

well from what i read the breakin period is to set the rings etc
so i am not babying her but i do treat her right and she seems to get
faster every day
i tried the under 4k thing and that was pointless now i use full range of gear
and engine break alot and have had her checked by a friend who is a harley
mechanic he says im doing it right

Congrats! I remember the first time I hit the freeway (long ago).. I was just cruising around on the side roads and though well why not as I knew the freeway in that area would be dead at that time of day.. I too was going WEEE like the pig on the zipline haha

I'm glad your comfortable with highway now!!!

I usually shift to 6'th really soon, from 40 and up i'm in 6'th, I like to keep the rpms low lol no idea why? but it propels me up in speed plenty quick, faster than cars can accelerate on a normal basis =D

I do the same thing, but my "whee" speed is about 90 mph. That thrill level keeps rising to higher and higher speeds and acceleration, which is why most people keep upgrading.

90? are you insane? my bike dont do 90
it tops at 58
at least for the foreseeable future that is lol

Yeah, i've had mine in the 80's, plenty left there too. Solid bike, just enough power to get in some trouble

I've gone 95 on my bike... wasnt all that special lol least in my eyes.

I was keeping up with traffic.. looked down and was like WOW! and backed off the throttle lol didnt even realize I was going that fast.. had plenty of nut left to propel me faster than that tooo haha
