Finally got my horn installed today. I don't have the compact version so finding a good hiding spot was a bit of a challenge.
it fits there, thats where mine is mounted. the bracket for mine comes off the side of the motor very close to where you mounted yours near the radiator

Sizes and parts please; I will need to go to bunnings.

from memory a piece of steel bar about 12-20 millimetres wide and about say 15 centimetres long

bend at the 5 centimetre mark at 90 degress so you make a "L"

the short part gets a hole drilled thru it to get mounted to the motor as in the photos above like on mine

the long part gets a hole drilled in to it so a bolt can go thru the "L" bracket you make & gets bolted to the top of the horn, theres a hole in a metal bracket on the horn to attach it to

that will get you out of trouble, if you lived closer i would tell you to come round & i will give you a hand make one & fit it

Thread revive. I'm thinking of doing this mod when I put on my frame sliders.

Will someone please post simple step by step instructions for doing this mod on a ninja 300, spoon feed style? Please include a complete part list.

Thank you,

Did u add a tether? How is it holding up?http://www.motorcycle.com/mobile
a tether wouldn’t be a bad idea but the steel plate i have it mounted too is about 3mm thick so it *shouldn’t* snap in a big rush. its going quite well on this N-3. a few weeks ago the bike had genuine kwaka crash bars fitted & the mounting plate for the horn had to be moved a little to make way for the brackets for the horn but it still works fine and its in "stealth mode" as it is hidden nicely away under the fairing and its ridiculously loud still.

has to be by far one of the best upgrades you can do to any motorcycle for such an inexpensive price tag:smile:

Cool, thanks. Where did you get the aluminum plate. I'm finding these instructions to be fragmented. Would it be too much to ask for you or someone else to condense, and optimize the instructions?

super quick instructions.

1) buy a stebel airhorn **WITH** wiring kit/relay, ebay is a good place to start
2) you going to need some steel plate about 2 or 3 mm thick about 10mm or so wide about 20 centimeters or so long, maybe less
3) one you get the horn look at it and drill a hole in the steel plate to fit a both thru it and bolt it to the top of the horn in the mounting hole
4) remove the fairing off the bike, mount the other end of the steel plate to a bolt that holds the motor in and make sure you have enough gap between the horn & fairing & motor to put fairing on. there wont be much room left but it will fit, mine does.... just

5) connect the wiring to the air horn, battery and disconnect the wires to the stock horn and connect to the relay wiring. now what will happen when you press the stock horn button power will travel along the new wiring harness after being engaged by the relay and power the horn.

6) once tested, put a few zip ties on cables to stop them falling down and put fairing back on 7) sit back , relax have a cold beverage and enjoy your handy work
