With my 4 day weekend I wanted to install my SSR fork preload adjusters and I needed to get the pressure off the forks to do so..

Cyclegear had a stand for $150... Sadly I was broke

I found an option that was free. I jumped up and hung from my roof rafter.. At about 200lbs it was not moving at all.. So I got (2) 400lb ratchet straps and hooked them to the top of the triple tree and ratcheted it up.. It went up so easily. I did have the bike on a rear stand.. I dont recommend this method as its probably not very safe but it work for the 10 minutes or so that I needed it :D

Were you in the army? We had to ghetto rig half of our equipment completely against safety standards on the regular. I remember using string as a sling til i could... ahem... acquire... a good quality strap from the armory.

You can't replace the ball bearings like that!

Slap a jack under the old gal and leave the straps as insurance.

No ball bearings, it was my fork preload adjusters..

Ball bearings will come when I decide on the goodies for the internals for the forks..
