so if we're not supposed to ride the bike before the ecu replacement...how are we supposed to get the bike to the dealership lol

i'll probably ride mine to the dealership as it was a HUGE HASSLE towing my bike all the way back to my town when i first bought it.

EDIT 1: never had stalling issue w/ it so far. fingers crossed!
Mine got recalled, have to wait a week for the new part

Just got my letter to go have the ECU fixed. Only had it stall on me once though and that was over a month ago.

never has mine stalled but my dealer is on back order :(
Got my letter yesterday, calling them today to get it ordered.

I can recreate the stall issue only when the bike is not warmed up, going down hill 5th, 6th gear and pull in the clutch. STALL lol.
Haven't had an issue here... except one that was user error

I'm not sure if I'm the first aussie to post about this or not. Haven't read through the entire thread yet haha.

Today I got some mail from Kawasaki, first thing that popped to mind was about the ECU / ABS issues.

I have only had it stall on me once and I wasn't even sure if it was the bikes fault or my own as I only had just over 1k on the clock and I'm just starting out.

This is letter from kawasaki with my name / vin # removed.

I have been waiting a month for my ecu. Called Kawasaki USA and they stated it was shipped on the 9th and delivered on the 15th. They also stated mine was one of the early ones and they sent a new not reflashed one. Four part numbers reflashed (for sold bikes), new (for new bikes) and the same for abs bikes. Mine was a new one. Unfortunately the dealership claims they don't have it and Kawasaki USA is looking for it. They are supposed to get back to me within 24 hours. I suspect that they put it in a new bike (due to the part number and not checking the vin number on the order) however they will be speaking with Kawasaki USA.

Had I waited for it to come it would not have as they already showed it being delivered. Have you waited a long time for yours? Kawasaki claims they are readily available which is why I called.
I think that happened to mine as well.

My 300 has been in the shop since july 6 th :'( first for a crankshaft issue, and now that has been fixed but has been sitting in the shop "waiting" for my ecu, when I went in to complain to the shop manager he said oh it should get here today or tomorrow. if I dont have my bike by friday all hell is going to break loose.
With all the problems we're experiencing, I wonder if this bike was rushed to market. In the car world, they say never to buy the first model year. Maybe the same is true for bikes.
I have zero problem with my bike I'm at 3k miles, only complaint from me is the seat lol add hurts like crazy but it's worth it!!!

In California, if a vehicle has been inoperable for 30 days and is still under warranty, owner should get a full refund of all costs. Does your state have a "lemon law"?
Pennsylvania Lemon Law 1956 Presumption of a reasonable number of attempts.
It shall be presumed that a reasonable number of attempts have been undertaken to repair or correct a nonconformity if:
1. the same nonconformity has been subject to repair three times by the manufacturer, its agents or authorized dealers and the nonconformity still exists; or
2. the vehicle is out-of-service by reason of any nonconformity for a cumulative total of 30 or more calendar days
Thought I would throw this in as well as in Georgia it appears it gives us the right to sue unlike cars. In Pa in applies as well to motorcycles.

Pennsylvania Lemon Law

Pennsylvania Lemon Laws and the federal Lemon Law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) provide for compensation to Pennsylvania consumers of defective automobiles and trucks and other vehicles and products including motorcycles, RV’s, boats, computers and other consumer appliances and products. To qualify under the Pennsylvania Lemon Law or the federal Lemon Law, you must generally have a ...

The dealership I bought the bike at called and told me I need to bring it in for the swap, it's a 3 hour round trip for me to take it there. I asked if I could just have a local kawi dealer do it and they told me no, it has to be the dealership I bought the bike from... that sound like BS to anyone else?

On a side not I'm running a fuel controller anyway and never had the problem.

Sounds like total BS to me. I just had my new fairings fitted yesterday..........at a dealer nearly an hour away from my original dealer I purchased from. It even states in the letter that I received that the bike can be taken to any Kawasaki delaership, although recommended to return to your selling dealer.

Just contact Kawasaki head office and tell them you wish to go to the closer dealer. They know that people dont stay in the same place that they bought the bike from forever, so this wont be anything new for them........quite common to have work done elsewhere. Sounds like your dealer is just being a bit lazy, and doesnt want to arrange with another Kawasaki dealer to have your parts shipped there. Contact head office, they will arrange it for you and you can totally bypass the original dealer.
