I just read a review of the 500 honda vs the 300 ninja
and it pretty much descended into a complaint fest of how cheap the
ninja is
I am not a big motorcycle buff (working on it) but I do know cheap
when I see it.
I personally love the 300. I have been working on tailoring it to me
personally more , added a few more decals, ordered a 15 tooth sprocket
upped the suspension in rear. Thinking of the pirelli rosso (i think that is
right) tires. Alot of mods I want to do to make it more set to myself but
I have never sat and thought (wow this is a cheap bike I cant believe
it was made in china)
I know this is a beginner to intermediate bike and eventually I will
get myself a 600 f4i for more long distance type stuff but I have never
had a brand new vehicle and i got this one with 1.6 miles on the ODO
when i drove it off the lot. I will be paying 5400 total for this bike after
tax and interest at a rate of 104.52 a month and I feel like i have totally
got my moneys worth.
I guess my question is what are your feelings about your 300. Do you feel
its cheap or did you get your moneys worth. If i was saddled with this as
my only bike for the rest of the time I rode I would be perfectly fine. I drive a 1999 chrysler 300m and it is my favorite of all the cars I have.
I guess I am old and set in my ways but I prefer to be content with what
I have then constantly craving the newest best thing.

(will be posting new pics of mods today)
Gonna try and plasti dip my windshield wish me luck!

I am going to be completely honest saying this, now keep in mind I do love my Ninja 300 :D

In my personally opinion, the Ninja 300 is the CHEAPEST motorcycle I have ever owned, and cheap as in quality-wise. I also own a Ninja 250R, and it just seems like such a higher quality bike when compared to the 300. The weird thing is I just don't understand why..

Now I am not knocking the bike, I would buy it again any day just to be clear..

What about it makes it cheap to you?
Is there a way to replace the cheap parts?

Who did said review? I can't understand the comparison of these two bikes.
Journalists are always picky. If they just said they love everything, they might lose their jobs. :D

Journalists have always been critical of the Corvette. They trash the interior. But they are also testing BMW, Mercedes, and the like.
The Corvette is so much more than just a nice interior, but it IS a very nice interior. :)

I think its just the fairings that bother me because everything else is essentially the same as the 250R.. The fairings on the 300 are paper thin and ill fitting, compared to every other bike I have owned.. Look at all the guys that have just tipped over their bike and break off a rearset and crack open the side fairings, in my mind that is not acceptable for just a tip over..

But again, I am still love the bike, just want to be clear on that haha..

It's a cheapo turd burger. The budget damned it to be. Pressed steel brake pedal? Really? Playschool axles and hardware? Huh? Forks from the 1960s. Loose steering head ball bearings out of a K-mart bicycle. Seriously?

I like mine too but a quick trip around the bike and under the brittle plastic suit and you know where they skimped.

The engine is very good though, at least the power delivery and vibrations. Hopefully there were not critical corners cut in the engine, or cheaper than necessary materials.

Would you buy it again?? Most of those items existed in the 250R.

The fairings do look cheap. The internals being cheap is just their way of cutting down on costs. As long as it doesn't bother me in my regular riding I don't have a problem with it.

Yes, as I knew what I was getting into and planned on swapping alot of stuff anyway.

Ask me again in a year, or after 10k miles and maybe not. What I want is a premium small bore street bike. In order to get one I need to go back to used 15 year old FZR400s which, by todays standards aren't so great anymore besides being rare.

So, I've already added a shock, deleted the moped foot controls and am eyeballing the front end. I'm in about $1000 over the price of the bike. It stops better, feels better, turns better and looks better (exhaust=bleh).

I may be withing a few hundred more $ to having a decent machine for my tastes but I'd have bought a ZX250-300rr that was for real in a heartbeat.

I'm probably the guy who wrote the comments the OP is talking about!

Look closely over a hyosung and then you will see cheap
Yeah, had a hyosung at the MSF course. First words out of my mouth, "I went from an R6 to this?". I had to retake the course, since the first time I took it was 9 years ago before I was in the military, and the wouldn't accept it anymore. What a complete piece of garbage bike. The sad part is I work with a guy that bought one after he took the course.

Well... I for one dont feel this bike is cheap in any way other than the fairings. they bug me because they dont fit up correctly, no matter what you do, and always come loose in certain areas. also the plastic is pretty brittle.

Thats my only gripe *shrug*

lol
