...was pretty easy. The only silly part was taking the old one off :)

What, you thought this was an advice thread? B-)

Yeah that's something I noticed this morning myself. In hindsight I think it was because the stock one is so QUIET. In any event, it's nice to have something that actually sounds like a motor is attached

Yeah. I mean when I leave first thing in the morning and I turn it on in the garage to warm it up I think it's too loud, but that's just because it's really quiet at 0630. All my girlfriend hears inside the house (I ride right by the bedroom window to leave) is a slight rumble, not even enough to wake her up or disturb her. My neighbors are also in their 80s and they don't mind it at all either.

Buuuut there is also no DB limit here, so it doesn't matter if they like it or not, i'm not breaking any laws, lol.
I have no idea about local noise ordinances here but as just about all my neighbors have some sort of noise making toy they can stuff it. I'll have to go for a baffle-less ride later on just to see

yea im good on the noise too. I just received mine in the mail.thanks for the pics.It looks like there is alot of pieces going on.How many pipe pieces is it? I might get a friend of mine to wield some of the connections up.He powderpaints too so i might get him to paint that holder so it will blend in.
There's I think three or so. Actual can, mounting bracket, and the connector pipe to the header.

Nothing needs to be welded it is quite literally slipped on
Also when you're done there will be some OEM bolts and nuts left over...

 i better get mine today then

I dont like how it looks like three different kinds of metal. the can looks like stainless then the other piece looks different then the stock pipe is another color.im probably going to paint my piping black to the can .also the bracket black too.got to love the powder coatings

Bundy, it won't look too different for long. Mine already looks like one solid color. I guess the heat and dirt and normal use taints the metal a bit and now mine pretty much matches the rest of the pipes.
it's pretty nifty and i'm proud of the accomplishment, no matter how mechanically simple it may be to do so.

now those fender delete kits on the other hand... hehe

That's my neck project. Honestly it doesn't seem hard at all. Only big deal is probably cutting 1 wire since I plan to get the Targa FE. All the rest is bolting and plugging.

i'm scared to death of doing something stupid and frying the electrical system... how do i know this to be scared of it?

well... i did it once on a DIY PC...
I screwed up my PC before too. But that's static electricity BS. These are wires that won't have power running to them unless the bike is on and all you gotta do is cap the wires together I'm sure.
no no... i mean i literally fried a system. didn't have a jumper on the mobo set just the right way and on initial boot up... *whinnne BBZZZTTT POP! what's that smell?*
Lol this is a license plate light wire. Really think it would do that?
i have no idea but as i'm not a trained electrician... i'm sure i'd forget to ground myself or something hahaha
plus i DO know that some components in the machine are ALWAYS drawing power and the only way to stop that is to disconnect the battery entirely and hope the capacitor runs dry soon
I don't think we need to worry about grounding ourselves with that. We're not messing with any boards. I'm not an electrician, but it seems rather simple. I had to wire up some ceiling fans in my house and that was simple other than the obvious holding your arms above your head for a long time and having a heavy ass fan on top of them.

Yeah but those lights don't come on when the bike is off, so I would assume the power is cut off if the bike isn't on. I know the ODO has power always going to it.
What said above is right. When I installed my license plate frame I cut the brake wire, and both turn wires without a problem. Just the key out.

Even did soldering and touched the wires no problem.

I just ordered my Targe FE kit 2 seconds ago online. I'll tell you how easy it is when I am done with it next week, lol.
