I messed up BIG time today by absentmindedly putting her in first gear from park and beginning to ride away... without removing my **** Kryptonite Disc Lock. Needless to say I realized my mistake at the first clunk and cursed myself as I went immediately over to the ground.

Ah yes... Three hundred miles in and THIS is why I drop it? I inspected my bike shortly after and found the brake lever slightly scuffed, the exhaust had a thin line of debris where it had made contact, and the handlebar was scuffed. Everything else appeared fine.

I thoroughly examined my front tire and it appeared it had taken no damage whatsoever. All of this did happen at very low speed, however I am paranoid. Nothing is loose or even scuffed including the brake system and disc. Should I be concerned? I basically do not want the thing to disassemble on the road. I'm 300 miles from the first inspection, I rode it for 20 miles after the incident with no problem, and nothing appears loose or damaged, including the front break. Do I send it in for inspection? Anyone else ever done this before?

Not exactly, but I have done something probably even worse. After a long ride from Houston to Austin on a VFR750 I use to own, I had adrenaline jitters or something when I parked, and I got off the bike without putting the kickstand down. It just fell to the ground in front of me. Man I felt stupid.

Yeah I think it will be fine. If I saw any cracks or if anything was a bit loose I would get it inspected. If any n00b is reading this make sure you get a lanyard for your disc lock (if you choose to use this security feature) so you won't forget on the days your mind is elsewhere while putting on your gear.

Sorry to hear that dude, but a reminder cable is essential for disc locks.

I've already had my bike shut off 3 or 4 times because I tried to drive away with the kick stand down. I'm glad it has that feature or I would have been in trouble on the first left turn.
