Wondered this afternoon if I could get rid of the storage tray from under the pillion seat, as I see no need for it and would rather have a larger storage area.

Pretty straightforward to do :)

Tray in situ

Under the tray

Using some pliers grab the r-clip/cotter pin and pull it out of the end of the dowel on both sides of the tray.

Slide out dowels from each side of tray

Tray removed

Room for more things :) In this case, water and helmet cleaner as well as the tool kit.

Might look at cutting the fins out as well to give more flexibility with the space.

Great writeup! I took my tray out the first day as well. Kills the cargo volume. I can carry quite a bit in my Ninja...wallet, phone, case for my hearing aids/earplugs, Gatorade drink pouchey-things, etc. I might also cut out the fins as-mentioned. Good idea.

What fins are you guys talking about? Pics maybe?
Under the seat are some fins that divide up the compartment. I'm considering removing the centre one.

If you take your tool kit out you'll see the divider.
