I'm set in removing my tank sticker but don't want to ruin the paint. Does anyone know if the clear coat is under the sticker also? Was thinking maybe they clearcoated the tanks, then applied sticker, then a slight clearcoat to keep the sticker from accidently peeling off, does that sound right?
How would you go about getting it off? I am thinking of taking it to a paint pro, but if I can do this I will.

I know there is a coat "over" it, was wondering if there was clearcoat "under" it also, how many layers of clear does kawi usually do?

There's always sending kawi an email.

Ppl please read! He said he knows there is a clear coat over it, so he doesn't need replies telling him there's a clear coat over it.

It may be lightly cleared prior to te sticker then a heavier clear coat would be done all over once again to provide the finish.

If you do go down the path of removing it and even if there is clear under it being a light coat or not you would need to wet rub the area that is left around the edge of the sticker and cut and polish

Having said all of that if it happens to be a light clear coat there is a chance you may rub thru to paint and even if you don't I believe that you would notice the difference once the bike has been cleaned and brought back to showroom shine

Hope this helps.

People PLEASE read the OP's question CAREFULLY,
he is aware of the clear coat OVER the sticker.
He is wondering if he does that those layers off IF there is in fact some clear coat UNDER the sticker as well so that he is not into raw paint.

Yes, I think an email is in order
The difference after the sticker is removed will be the thing, polishing it and maybe...filling in with some more clear might even out the sticker indentation. LOL of course maybe I should just order a pint of the paint and just go to town on the whole tank, I was just trying to cut some cost.
Thanks for the ideas and posts...

Took off the right side ninja sticker, used a razor blade, goof off, 2000 grit wet sandpaper and PlastX plastic polish(yeah I know its not platic, but its a fine polish). The only problem was I used an exacto knife first and made a couple of small scratches, it don't look too bad, but it is smooth so now I can paint it.
