Do I need to drill it out? And how do I attach the new ignition

Is this for a bike that you stole? :surprise:
I believe you have to drill out the security bolts for the old ignition. The new ignition should come with standard bolts.
BTW, a kit (on eBay for instance) also includes the tank cap, and the rear cowl lock.
No it's not stolen lol my co-worker bought it at an Auction in 2015 as a project and never got around to doing any work. It had no keys so he bought a new ignition.

I also have no key for the gas tank so if u have any idea on how to get in there that would help. I need to eventually replace the tank as it's dented but before I invest in parts want to make sure the engine is sound.

Aside from this I need front forks. Fairing, tachometer and headlight assembly.

I'm from Toronto Canada and I don't know where to source used parts
Cool.
If I were to attempt this, I might get some cheap lock-set off eBay, like this:

(You will need to make sure it fits YOUR bike, I just quickly searched without verifying fit)

That should include everything you need and be able to use one key for everything.

Someone here should PM you the service manual, which should explain how to remove the ignition, the gas cap, and the cowl lock.
It's not that hard to do.

AFAIK, the ignition has two tamper resistant bolts that will need their heads drilled out (from behind).
My guess is, it is similar (or identical) to this:

Did anyone ever post the Ninja 300 service manual?
I would like to know the diameter for the security bolts on the ignition.
I too am not attempting to steal a motorcycle. Some idiot attempted to steal my motorcycle but was only able to ruin my ignition switch.
Ive purchased a replacement kit from amazon.
Any help would be appreciated.

Be prepared for some issues with an aftermarket ignition switch.

I forget the exact details, but there may be a resistor required in order to make it work properly (read - start).

There should be some info here or at Ninjette about it.

There is a resister required that is inside oem switch which is 100 ohm and some aftermarket ignition switches don't have it, of the 5:wires on main loom, the skinny grey one that goes back to ECU must have it inline.

How would I fix a loose ignition on a 300 I bought recently? Its rattling on the stem like someone tried drilling the bolts out unsuccessfully, almost making the act of inserting the key into something not so sturdy undesirable. I want it to be like the factory intended. Any suggestions could go a long way.

Link to the kit?
Just do an ignition delete and put a hidden on off switch on the hot side. One of my old motorcycles has no key. You have to know where the button is to turn everything on. I know that someone on the Ninja 250 FB site bout an aftermarket ebay ignition and it didn't work because of the resistor is didn't have.
Can someone post a pic of the 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 300 ignition harness clip and the clip from the harness that comes from the bike that it connects to. I need a pic of those to clips connected to know the colors for the Wires cause my clip that connects to the ignition harness/clip has been cut from my bike.
Welcome Bob! Those connectors lay under the gas tank and are not visible unless you remove the tank. I will take a picture next time a remove the tank.

May you can find an image of those in a YT video.
