Hey guys, 26 yo new member from Long Beach. I've never really ridden beyond my initial MSF in 2007. Decided to go back to school instead of betting a bike. Now that I've graduated and have some decent income I'm glad I waited because I like this bike better than the 250r I was considering before.

Does anyone know of a "brush up" MSF course in the la area that I could do in the evenings during the week? I work on weekends so I can't do one then. I'd rather not retake the entire MSF as I already have my license and have taken it before. Really I'd like to just have practice on bikes again before I run out and buy one.

Also, any recommendations on dealers in the area? Is 6500+ out the door pretty standard for an ABS model? Seems like its basically msrp+ fees. I don't want to travel too far from Long Beach because I'd rather not use freeways or heavily congested LA streets to get the bike home with almost 0 experience riding.

This seems like a great forum and I'm excited to finally be on my way toward bike ownership!

Hey RustyBoy -

Welcome!

I bought mine at Champion at 16th & Newport in Costa Mesa. From there it would be a fun ride home (PCH through Seal Beach, left through Belmont Shore then up to 2nd). Or....

In my case I didn't even have my permit when I bought mine so they delivered no charge. (Yeah, that was bad planning on my part.)

I doubt that their prices are much different than other dealers in the area, but I like the staff there.

If you go, as for Art.

If you buy, tell him that he owes the 'UCI Guy' a bagel and coffee!

Hope to see you out there on the road.

Hi rusty boy, I bought mine at Burbank kawasaki. I was able to talk the price down to $6,500 plus free first two service. That's the abs model. Man, had I known that mid cities deliver for free I would had gotten the bike from them. I'll post some pics of my bike here once I get it today. You should too as peepz here love pictures!

Sorry to say it was not much more than a patch of dirt when I was in college.

Now I teach a couple of classes there - in the program for international grad students (finance mostly).
