I was disappointed to see how easily it cracked as well. But for all I know. Someone could have attempted to pick it up and drop it again.

Whether I fix it myself or go to a shop...there is a national backorder on that piece alone. Looks like I'll be riding like that for awhile. Just a little embarrassing. Especially since I am not the one that caused it. Guess I'll start modding the rest of the bike for now.

Still have yet to decide if I want to epoxy the cracked area.

The only thing I would be concerned about with filing the claim is that it automatically goes on carfax report. If and when you try to sell it, you'll have to take a hit when it shows up. That 55028G is over $300 alone though. Insurance is definitely the economical way to go. I cracked my 55028C but it's only $74 so no need for insurance. Most people at the mall near me park on the sidewalk right by the alternate general entrances. Those are the doors that don't lead directly into a store and not the main mall entrance. usually they are by bathrooms or food courts and have security cams.
The bike may have been tire tapped by a car. A 0MPH tip over won't cause that type of scratching on the muffler. It looks like it slid some, bar ends too.

The weird thing is that ebony black fairings cost easily about $382 online from Kawasaki Parts House or Pro Caliber. The white ones are $186. I would like to take it to a body shop and have the work guaranteed....but at the same time; I want to get hands on experience with the bike. For oil changes, HIDs, etc.

Each of those mods requires a fairing or two to be removed.

I am already being sent a replacement exhaust...levers and bar ends from a member on here. All I need is that darn fairing. There any aftermarket ones out yet?

Question, could one say buy different colored fairings to create a custom scheme? That might be a nifty way to truly make a machine YOURS...

Really like the pearl white...just pops. If anything, I wonder if the red fairings would swap right over.

That's why I'm asking for; say I kept black on front and rear and swapped out the sides for red or whatever. Just an example I think red n white would work better, but logically shouldn't all connections and snaps be the same

Well it turns out that there is a 4 week back order wherever I order from; whether it's a local dealer or online or directly from Kawasaki. This pertains to all colors and fairings.

i was told that all the fairing are interchangeable except the gas tank
if that is true i am going to replace my white side fairings on both sides
with the blue as that will be my accent color for the bike anyway
then i have 2 back up fairings if i drop my bike again

Very impressed with the toughness of this paint and clear coat.

Will be doing epoxy and paint in the next week. That'll have to hold me over until I get a new fairing.

Looks great so far JTACKM, all things considered, your bike should look almost showroom spec once that crack is fixed (and the exhaust / pegs swapped out).

Not good that it happened in the first place, but at least you probably got some solid experience working on your bike, and maybe some upgrades in the process!

Thanks. The exhaust will probably give me a reason to go aftermarket...any suggestions? As for the pegs...they're intact. No damage done. At least no extra damage that a few rocks and pebbles hitting them would cause.

Ordered ASV levers. Stoked for those to come in.

I think Yoshimura and Akrapovic are the forum-favorite exhausts. Pricey, but they look great and have a solid reputation.

You probably can't go wrong with Two Brothers either.

Also, post some pics of the ASV levers when you get em on, would love to see the difference over stock!

Besides personal preference, what's the main reason why people opt for short levers as opposed to the longer ones?

Some usually go Long Clutch and Short Brake. From what I've read and personally do myself, its easier to pull the brake slowly to slow down instead of using 4 fingers and having a chance to lock up your front tire (not saying that you can't lock up with 2 fingers). It's good enough to grab 2-3 and more control on the grip itself with your other fingers.

Clutch is just personal taste.

Whichever you chose im sure you'll love it over stock any day.

Nice repair job mate. Can I ask you how you repaired the scratches? I dropped my bike from a standstill and have similar damage to yours minus the cracked fairings.
