That's awful! Before you file an insurance claim, get a rough estimate of what it would cost out of pocket to fix it.

It may be pricey, but it will probably be cheaper than eating an insurance hike every month.

Out of curiosity, is there anything we can do to keep random people from sitting on our bikes? Maybe a way to lock the helmet to the seat?

A locking cover might work, but that's probably a PITA to take on and off, that and it probably would need to be carried around in a backpack...

That sucks! That's going to cost at least 10 times your deductible. Not sure if rates go up for this type of claim. Sorry...

Want the cheap solution? Repair the plastic by fixing an aluminum plate behind the crack with epoxy and shoot it with rattle can bedliner. It has a light texture and semi flat color. Rustoleum is the brand I use alot iirc, red & white can. Remove the part, repair the crack, sand it and shoot it. That will get it looking OK for under $10 and maybe an hour or two of light work.

Sucks. If you are going to toss the panel let me know please.

Oh man that really sucks. I would just leave it and wait for someone to sell off fairings. On another note, do you live in Temecula?

I am disappointed it happened. But from everything I physically inspected....it looks to only be cosmetic damage. Nothing mechanical. Do you agree? I would like everything fixed. But personally just want the fairing fixed. Those cracked pieces stick out like a sore thumb. Embarrassing to go riding around with a damaged fairing on a brand new bike.

I kind of like that idea bout painting it... I know its new, but its a cheap fix that may work, fix the crack, sand the area on top where it is scratched so its smooth and paint it, pain everything thats scratched. minus the muffler of course.

If you take your time and use high grit sand paper I think it could come out very good looking!

That bedliner spray is addictive. It will look 100% better. I use it on alot of stuff, even did a full set of body parts for an old EX250 a few years ago, looks like a Ducati "dark" finish.

This is a comprehensive claim. Your insurance will not go up. Call them and tell them what happened, if they try to raise your insurance just don't file the claim. But insurance never goes up for a comprehensive claim.

Hey JTACKM i can probably help you out with the stock levers/bar ends/exhaust. i already replaced my levers and bar ends and my exhaust is coming in january. Sucks that had to happen i am willing to give you my stuff for free.

I have seen a few 300 owners around here. Yet to see them when on my bike though. I almost bought my bike from Temecula Motorsports; but found a much better deal at John Burr Cycles...$5479 OTD. Plus an additional $250 back. The sales guys at TM, kept stringing me along.

Insurance says it would fall under comprehensive and I wouldn't get dinged on my rate. The representative I spoke to was concerned about finding parts for a bike that new. As well as my bike being in a shop over the holidays. Going to take it to a shop to get fixed. Pickup a whole new set of fairings and fenders down the line. Looks like I'll be breaking out my paint gun and spraying a whole new backup set in the future. No idea what color though.

Those $300 frame sliders don't sound like such a bad deal now...

Exactly. Just irks me that someone else damaged it and not me.

**** dude, that sucks!! I live in Riverside and worry about parking my 300 in public with the careless idiots that walk and drive around here.

It is good to hear that the claim in comprehensive. Although, as they said it must be a pain to find new replacements parts locally.

It's good to hear you got your bike from John Burr Cycles. I bought my ebony from them and they are good people! The Costco deal was unbeatable too!!

Ditto, would they actually have protected the fairings and exhaust in this case? (I know they aren't meant to...)

I think the sliders will protect /minimize the damage. Correct me if I am wrong. I have been reading that sliders on our bike requires cutting or modifying the body.

That really sucks. I really don't like it when people sit on strangers bikes. My dad does it all the time when walking... I have NO idea what he is thinking..
