Has anyone here used the Domino throttle on their 300? They have a set of 300 specific cables but I am wondering if the cables are long enough to be able to run the cables on top of the bar to make room for my master cylinder. I ordered the Motion Pro kit but have heard that it comes with stock length cables which only will mount the cables in the stock position so I may have to return it and get the Domino. Want to know if I’ll need the Ninja 300 cables or their universal “build your own” cable kit…

All the places I have asked just say they don’t know, Domino doesn’t supply the length. Well get a tape measure and measure them! Lol. Still waiting for Domino to respond if they will…

If I do end up getting the Domino I'll order it from carpimoto so I'd like to know if I need to use the universal cables before I order so I can get those instead of the Ninja 300 cables because returning something to Italy isn't really an option... Obviously though I'd rather use the cables already made for the 300 IF they're long enough. I can't believe there is 0 info on installing an aftermarket throttle/cables on a ninja 300. Surely lots of people have done it for the track?

The only mention of an aftermarket throttle I can find after searching 24 pages of threads in the search function. It looks like motopreserve is right, the MP cables are too short to route the cables on top of the handlebars. I think motion pro knew they messed up (or should have used longer cables) because the Ninja 400 kit comes with cables plenty long enough to route them any way you see fit even though stock, they mount exactly the same as the 300. They'll never admit it though lol.

Hahaha.

I am interested in the Domino throttles for both my bikes. People say they are so smooth and well built.

As for the length, yeah that is a tough one. I think for bigger bikes, you could easily just put the throttle onto the bar however you need to make clearance for the brake, but the 300 is indeed a bit tighter with the factory controls...

I'd say just go for the 300 specified kit and call it a day. I bet it will fit, just make sure you can still move the bars in the full range of motion and it'll probably be fine. I saw the DIY cable length kit, and the way the cable end knob is mounted seemed a bit sketch to me.

I will say I routed my 15RCS brake line very weirdly on my 300. The brake line comes off the master directly towards the rider, backwards. It was the best way in my case, with my Woodcraft Clipons and the angles I like. So maybe you can find more adjustability there as well.

Yeah I did buy the 300 specific cables, I’m hoping domino had more sense and made them an inch or two longer than stock so you have some adjustability. The way they were routed oem was ridiculous lol. Let’s add as many bends as possible to add friction haha.

I know what you mean about the universal kit and how the ends attach with set screws. I don’t think those ends see too much force so they would probably be fine but like you I’d rather not have to use them if I don’t have to.

I’ll keep that in mindwhen routing my brake line if I still can’t get enough room. If thesethrottle cables work though I should be in good shape. I’m waiting to torque everything until I get it all in position and make sure it’s all happy.

Hey Sparky, not sure if you've seen my posts about carpimoto.com but if you go with Domino, you can buy the all that stuff there and they ship super fast. When I bought my brembo caliper they shipped it on Monday and I got it Thursday morning and the stuff is cheaper than you can buy it from the USA... Just wanted to give you a heads up, I wish I had known about it sooner...

I'll check it out! Thanks for the tip!

Let me know how the Domino throttle fits on your 300. Which model did you specifically go with? I was a bit confused with how many models they had last I looked.

Hey Sparky, what was that oil you recommended that you use for smooth shifting? Was it amsoil? Do you just use a k&n filter with that?

The domino throttle works great and the cables have more than enough room. Makes me wonder if the MP throttle would have worked as well but I like the domino better anyway. The cables swivel freely where they leave the housing so they don’t twist or bind at all.

Indeed Amsoil has been my go-to for all my bikes. It really does smooth out the clutch and shifting action on all the bikes I've put it in, my own or other peoples' bikes. I have found it to make the clutch more fully disengage when you pull the lever in all the way, and make the friction zone slightly wider and more usable, and still never let the clutch slip when you don't want it to. Give it a go! If you like it, get their membership on their website, it gives you a large discount and free shipping on orders with 2 gallons or more of oil, and it still comes out cheaper than buying 2 gallon's worth of quarts in store prices.

And no, I am not a fan of K&N oil filters. I will always and only use OEM oil and air filters. There is no 'performance gain' from using a "low resistance" oil filter that matters to anyone unless you're fighting for a podium at a big race. IMO same for air filters. I'd rather run the filters the engineers designed for the engines. The quality and design is documented and had more due diligence I feel, so I'd just rather stick with that. If you need more actual performance from your engine, shoulda bought a bigger bike lol.
