OK so I had a mishap towing the bike home from the stealership. Long story short, I need to replace the front cowling piece that runs down between the headlights (55028-0472-777). I can get that from powersportswarehouse for $96 after tax and shipping. Nice.

I also need the piece that runs under the right hand (riders hand) headlight and connects to the first piece I mentioned. I watched Kawi G fairing removal vids and also checked out the guide on this site. My first question is, does the middle fairing come in pieces? I know it can be removed from the bike in one big piece but all I need to replace it the top section. I shouldn't have to buy an entire middle section when all I need is one component of a three section part. Looking at the diagram I wonder if 55028-0419 is the part I need?

Attached is a pic of the damage. Poor lighting in my garage so the pic isn't HD or anything. Any help identifying parts would be greatly appreciated.

Since the tab is still intact on the black piece, I think I can get by with just replacing the green. I can clean up those scuff marks and just deal with the rest. The way it's set up I still need to remove all the side and front fairings just to replace the top piece around the headlights. It will be a good way to get familiar with the bike anyway. I'll post up some pics.

I am in the middle of removing the fairings on my SE Christmas eve 7:45 PM. I just want to say that whoever designed this bike deserves a swift kick in the nutz! I have worked on several bikes and never have I ever had so much trouble removing fairings!
It makes no sense whatsoever that I have to remove seat fairing, tank fairing, lower fairing, and upper fairing, just to get to the nose fairing.
Then these micki-flicki pop tabs (inside fairing under head lights)are just about driving me bananas! Too cheap to use a simple screw? Might as well be zip ties and duct tape.
I am so very completely annoyed and aggravated right now!
I have watched Kawi G fairing removal vids, I downloaded the assembly PDF and it's all too vague or too jumbled, this should be so much more simple than what it is. Every bike I've ever owned I was able to strip completely down and put it back together with only one or two screws left over. This is crazy (middle fairing)!
Half the joy of owning a bike is wrenching on it. Not this bike!

Just venting, thanks for listening!

"put the middle in"? Not sure what you mean. I had to use a small flathead to pry them loose enough to wiggle half way out. There is no "in" as they are flush. Couldn't even get all them so I took the middle fairings off still connected to the inside fairing. PITA!
Did all that just to find that nose piece requires dis-assembly of every single thing up front just to remove. Not worth my time and nerves man, I'd rather pay the stealership $120 and keep my sanity.
My last sportbike, I could remove 4 screws (all the same screw) and the bike was naked. The one before that had non-interlocked pieces so you only had to remove the piece closest to whatever you needed to access. Disassembling the entire bike everytime you need to do something is stupid.
This was a buzz kill, I'm totally off the Ninja 300 high. I'll gather up the various screws and pop tabs in the morning and piece it back together. If it would ever stop raining and warm up some, a few good miles may put her back in my good graces!

oh come on!!!
Lmfao!

I got it all back together with only one extra screw. Never fails! Not sure how I missed the Q-tip / Pop tab tutorial but once I got that figured out, the rest was easy. Still more difficult than other bikes but.....

Thanks for the tip tip
