Cold Weather Gear

When I lived in North Dakota, I would wear under armor under my jeans, a long sleeve shirt under a hoodie under my leather jacket, alpinestars pit gloves under icon ti max gauntlets, and a neoprene face and neck mask under my helmet, and 2 pairs of socks in Sidi vertebre 2s. That would take me down to around 0 degrees on the interstate. As long as there wasn't snow on the road, I would ride.

Served 6 years in Minot ND. If....if there is not snow on ground, all roads are game. Only two seasons in ND. Winter = 9 months and motorcycle season = 2 months. That missing 1 month is just that, missing. Just can't predict that month's weather.

For me, I'd have to invest in some heated gear to be out when it's 30.

I just stack layers and make sure there is no wind ocntact, so I wear boots and good gloves that come over my sleeve, and a winter helmet with some sort of sock or scarf.

Layers, layers ,layers! haha But a good set of cloths will be wind resistant, but still brathable, liek I have a carhartt work jacket thats flanel lined, and it repels wind pretty nice, same with my carhart coveralls

I use a JETT heated vest for cold weather. Only $150, lasts 3 hours on high setting, and 7 on low. Encases you in a warm Infared Glow Money well spent
That with a waterproof layer on top of my leathers and like ghost said a Scarf is the perfect combo for me.

^sounds pretty cool. I just wear layers under my clothes. With the excitement I have riding, the cold weather just flys pass me lol. I'm just took focus on riding lol. But it doesn't get 30 degrees down in SoCal either. So I guess good warm gear would be good especially on long rides.

what makes it worse is most of my riding is commuting, which is is the early morning and at night... where its at its coldest!!!! lol eh oh well

Heated grips man... Oh I love mine haha get a pair!!! "hotgrips" brand are the best, and use protaper glue, or the hotgrips glue.

some years ago when i rode around Australia on my vfr800, i rode in minus 4 degree Celsius weather,what saved me freezing to death was just some plain old black "long johns" worse those under my draggin jeans/jacket and worked a treat

If you are willing to spend the $ and want to keep the safety then KLIM and ICON both have snow gear that will keep you dry and warm. I was able to try both in the rain and at 45*f and they worked good. you look at $400 and up US$ for a jacket and about $100 less for the pants. Gloves you can find for $50 - $150 lots of them out there to see what you like.

Nothing is cheaper or warmer than used sno mo gear...e bay

I wear ski pants over my jeans and a good windproof winter riding jacket. Keeping your legs warm is key. The heaviest jacket in the world won't keep you warm as long as your nearly unprotected legs are acting like big old blood coolers for your body temperature.
I also used to have an oversize pair of blue jeans that I wore on top of my regular jeans for extra leg warmth.

Under Armour cold gear long sleeves and long johns. Snowboarding/Wool Socks over the long johns. Thermal, Lib tech hoodie (soft shell) over the thermal (one with the thumb hole in the sleeve) put my thumb through it and into the glove that way no wind can get in. right after I put on my Motorcycle jacket. I am in the East Bay of Bay area cali and it gets cold at night so I always carry an the extra stuff in my bag

Any of you tried the Alpinestars Touring Winter Balaclava? How good is it? Thinking of getting that, however I'm concerned about the "one size fits all".
