Hey Guys! My name is Chris and I've always liked bikes but never got around to buying one (seeing as im 19). I started getting interested in actually buying one about two months ago and i was dead set on the 2013 honda CBR250R but when i heard kawasaki was coming out with a new ninja I just had to wait for it...and im glad i did. What kind of an price can i expect to get on a Ninja 300 out the door? Ive talked with a dealer close by and they want to charge another $1000 on top of MSRP for various fees (not sure if this includes tax). Some of these seemed like I really shouldn't have to pay for them, like a freight and set up fee (isn't that what a dealer is supposed to do anyway?). with gear is is reasonable to be under $6,000?

I've decided to get one without ABS because I think learning to really feel the brakes is important. any input on this?

As far as gear goes, Ill for sure be buying a helmet, jacket and gloves. I'm not sure about boots and pants yet because they're simply inconvenient for just commuting. But then again, having your legs turned to hamburger is also inconvenient. I've mentally set my budget for $500 for gear but would definitely spend more to make sure im safe. any input is great!

Welcome! ABS is a great option, if it came it white I would of got it. If you plan on financing the bike they can work a deal to include all the gear into the cost of the bike as well. When got my financing. I was approved for $7000 for a Ninja 300.. Huh??? on a bike with an MSRP of $4800, how in a world did a bank work the numbers on that one haha...
Maybe they thought it would be nice to give you some wiggle room in case you wanted to get some accessories...?

A lot was based on how well I knew my dealer. I've been in and out of my local dealership for over a year trying to get into this sport, and had a decent relationship with them. They knew I was serious about staying under 6k for the bike and gear as I had nearly purchased a new 250r a while ago, and helped me out with the new 300. I picked up the white non-abs, basic scorpion exo-400 helmet, S&S gloves and jacket worth 240 together, and an Icon mil-spec vest worth 60. They ended up giving me some of that gear for free to stay under 6k. Every other dealer I had visited would have never considered this, regardless of how many times I visited. If you find a dealership with good people, invest time into it.
$6,000 is my mental budget. I've been in the dealership a few times and i'm sure one of the sales reps is going to call me in the spring. I hoping they'll be reasonable with some of their deals if I can put a package together with some gear.
