At 60 years of age after owning 10 plus motorcycles over time I am wanting to try this style of riding. I am 5' 9" and 340 lbs. Is the Ninja 300 enough scooter for joy riding and occasional 2 hour highway trips for this fat man?

This bike seems to be the most bang for the buck for $5000.

Thanks,

Crayfish

Well, I am 5' 7" and weight about 275 and it is more than enough for me and my wife (who only weighs about 125) to carry our butts around for hours at a time and it seems to do just fine. By the way, we are loving our 2014 Green SE ABS Ninja 300!!

The 300 is an amazing bike but maybe suggest looking into a 650?

As Cruizin said, you are within the load limits so you should be fine. Just remember though that you wont see the same performance a guy like Spacep0d will get out of the 300. The problem is that once you start getting over 300 lbs, most sport bikes will start getting a little lethargic since they weren't originally designed to really get up and go in the upper range of their weight load limits. It may not give you the kick in the pants acceleration you may be expecting a sport bike to do.

I'm 5'10 and 370 lbs. I haven't ridden in 13 years. I used to ride a 1400 Intruder. I recently bought a 2017 Ninja 300 past July. I was worried about getting my leg over the back sit. But more I get on it, the easier it gets. It has quick pick up and a joy to ride. Looks great. Glad I went to a sport bike.

Might I suggest maybe look into sport touring bikes. Kinda the best of both worlds. I had a 85 Yamaha FJ1100 back in the 80s, great bike, power and comfortable, for it's time.

You could look into the Ninja 650, which offers, I think better ergonomics, than the Ninja 300.

Or you could just buy a Goldwing 😁 and yes I have one if those too.
