After the 600 mile service the manual says to change the oil once a year or 7600 mi. The one after that would be at 2 years or 15,200 mi.
Exactly this - if you choose to follow the manual, it's 7600 miles. Most of us tend to change the oil a bit more frequently because it's simple to do yourself and it's a key component to engine longevity. I change mine about every 3500 miles.

Me too. I don't go 7000 miles between oil changes. I do my 2nd oil change at 600 mi. The first one is at about 200 miles. I just turned 1050 mi. on my 2016 Ninja 300 and when I did the first oil change at 200 miles, it was very dark and sure looked like it needed to be changed from my hard break-in. It wasn't as bad at the 600 mile oil change. Like you say, oil is cheap.

I'll most likely go 5,000 miles between oil changes(after the first 600 mile service oil change) when I get my bike,...hopefully sooner than next spring if all works out okay. I go 5,000 miles between oil changes on the Ford Escape,...might as well follow the same schedule with the motorcycle.

The Dealer I went to for my 600 (first service but 2nd oil change for me I decided to change it myself around 250 because of motor break in/metal shavings.) They gave me a paper with recommended service(includes oil change) at 600 (obv already done) then similar service to first at 3800 would be the next one. The reason he said was to make sure that the breakin process for the bike made good seats, they check for leaks, oil loss, compression, etc. After that he said between 4-5k miles to change it and you want another full service at around 15k miles to make sure your bike still has proper compression etc. After that is up to you.

Oil change 3k

Hi, as it was said here, manual says 7,600 miles. Don't wait that long, oil is responsible for lubing your engine parts. Take care of your engine and change oil every 3k - 5k. If you are racing, even more often. It's your call! :)
