Yes you cant beat the 'in the flesh' test. Was thinking the same about the graphics, maybe some silver striping or highlights but nothing too bright?
Unfortunately I live in a small town with a dealer who does Triumph and KTM as well as Kawasaki so he may not get one in for the showroom floor, hard to know.
Knowing me I will have my order in well before the boat leaves Japan anyways. I'm assuming these bikes are made in Japan??

Edit: Just realised I'm posting all this in the 250 thread. Apologies.
Probably made in Thailand like the Ninja 300

Go figure that the 250 is actually an upgrade to the 300!

Still produces 39HP but is 167kg instead of 174 (mostly in the fuel tank which dropped from 17L to 14L)

No it's not.

That's 3 liter difference.
1 liter of gas = approx 750 grams.
3 liter of gas = approx 2250 grams. (2.25kg)

167kg and 174 kg is 7kg difference, not 2.25kg.

Without wanting to split hairs everything Ive read has listed the new 400 at 168 kg so the diff is 6kg.
So... you've got a 2.25 kg fuel weight diff and reportedly the motor is 1kg lighter than the 300 motor so they've shaved another 2.75kg off somewhere and i reckon the frame looks pretty slim line. Even stuff like LED lights has to help i guess. Oh yes and those five spoke wheels like the 650 has are super light by all accounts.
There you have it - an easy 6kg!

I'm getting my threads mixed up again, is the 250 version a Kilo lighter perhaps??
Nothing that cant be carefully removed I'm sure. I dont really like the 400 splashed down the side of it, the black model just has a small subtle 400 on the tail section.

I had a black car once, and like, never again ... black looks dirty 5 minutes after washing!!! That's all, haha. I guess I have this thought that black isn't the most visible at night too. Not that the drunk driver behind you can see the paint job.

Yes I've got a couple of riding biddies with black bikes and they are harder to pick up in the day time as well.
For reasons of visibility I always wear boring mono block white helmets. I'd rather be less cool and be seen.

I wrote that wrong. I just meant that some of that weight that was lost is wet weight. However, it looks like they've maintained the range per tank (300/250 is about equal to 17/14).
In Canada, they used to sell both Ninja 650 and 400.
Believe or not, almost nobody bought the Ninja 400. It was virtually identical to the Ninja 650 except the cylinder was sleeved down to 400cc. The engine block was identical from outside as well.

Needless to say, Kawasaki no longer sell Ninja 400 in Canada.

So I don't think Kawasaki would bother selling both Ninja 400 and 250 in the USA.
Yeah of course nobody bought the 400, because it was just a sleeved down 650. Same bike as the 650 with less power. The new 400 is a different bike, not a crippled 650, so it has advantages over the 650 that the old 400 did not.

Not saying they will sell the 400 and 250 in the USA for sure, but Honda sells the 300 and 500 along with the 650 in the USA.

Short test ride in Japan

10 out of 10 for enthusiasm in this clip!

It's just like always - the Kwaki number for the engine power stands for the maximum possible hp, link to the TH-webside http://www.kawasaki.co.th/motorcycle/Ninja250 (select: Engine) and we read 27.5 kW for the 250 (announced with 39 hp) which is not more like only 37.4 hp calculated.
All the bikes before at least had 2 hp less than claimed and by the way this is the same with the Yamis.
So let's wait how much horses the 400 will come with and here to say, I've talked to Kwaki-Mechanics who had ridden the 400 already, they are disappointed and said that it runs like a lame duck (the rpm is not easy going into the higher range)...

Guess I will just stick with my new 2017 Ninja 300 that I just purchased. For awhile anyway.
