There is not much difference at all, other than Colors and at some point they updated the printed graphic that serves as the background for the tach on the dash.

thanks,
any recall issues with earlier models
I am weighing up either buying a 2016 second hand one with low kms or a 2017 new one
I see the price doesnt drop that much between the two..
Maybe new is the way to go.....
and any suggestions for a lightweight aftermarket exhaust that isnt too noisy?
cheers

Since 1. January 2017 for all new sold bikes there's Euro 4 valid now.
But all the manufacturers have the sales opportunity to still sell the unsold 2016 motorcycles.
So at least the 2017 Ninja 300 is a 2016 model, or did anybody already see a Ninja 300 with OBD? I didn't...

Parts should be compatible, there was an issue with fairing gaps on some of the earlier models. It seems to effect the 2013's and some 2014s. Kawasaki apparently revised the design of the front fairing stay to fix it. There were recalls on the ecu and abs units in the past too. I don't know the exact details, but everything was sorted by 2015 as far as I know. I ride a non ABS 2013 it has the fairing gap issue(Not a big deal to me, I bought the bike for 2500 cash a year ago. I would be more upset if I bought new.) and the ecu recall was taken care of.

thank you much appreciated
i agree its all about what you can live with or not live without

for me the 2018 model should be ridebywire, better suspension, less fairing and weight reduction, dream on
at least the 2017 KTM's 390's are keeping the pressure on development......

I'm in the market for a new 300cc range bike next year and wondering what features the new Ninja will have too.
I think Honda has set a bit of a precedent with USD front forks, aluminium swing arm, ride by wire, and LED head lights on its new (Asian market only) CBR250RR.
If they can put out a bigger displacement variant of that bike I would be keen but I'm not brand loyal and could easily be swayed to a Ninja if it was trick enough.
I haven't owned a Kawasaki since 1992 (GPZ900R) , showing my age.
I've worked out that it's more fun to ride a small bike fast rather than a fast bike slow!
