Need help having gas and starting issues

Hi everyone, New to the site just registered. I have a 2016 Ninja 300 ABS krt edition. About a week ago I noticed a small puddle by my bike and it was fuel. The gas was leaking out of the gas cap area. Since then my bike will not stay running. It takes a couple tries for it to turn over. It will run for a few seconds then dies. The only aftermarket part I have on it is Yoshimura R77 Street Slip-On Exhaust. I'm new to motorcycles so I'm not sure where to began.

Was the tank full and the bike sitting in the sun?

Sounds like you may have a blocked tank vent. Open the gas cap and look for a hole around the opening. Make sure it's open. If you pull the seat you should see the vent hose coming from the tank. Follow it down and see if it's obstructed at the end.

You could also shoot compressed air into the vent opening in the tank and see if it is clear, or clears it out, but I don't know if you have a compressor available or not.

That's the general idea, but I don't have a Ninja 300 to look at. Maybe someone can fill-in with more specific details.

If that's the issue it should start with the gas cap open.

This is where I would start.

I agree with the previous poster but here's a little extra help with something you can look at I don't know if you resolved your issue but I hope you did. Overfilling your gas tank can also cause those puddles but you definitely have blockage or something inhibiting.
