I've honestly only had it stall on me twice in the 6700 miles. And both were very early on. I talked to my local kawi dealer and they said I could drop my bike off and leave it for a couple days because they have to get the info off the bike, send a request out for the ecu. Get a new ecu, replace it and send in the old one. All while keeping my bike

My bikes the only thing I use to get around on rain or shine and told them that that wasn't going to work lol.

Looks like I'm affected. I see a link to a PDF.

I don't generally leave my bike in the sun, so I don't think I would have noticed the problem until I commuted or took longer trips.

Thanks to all those who complained to the NHTSA.

Garage
Greatly appreciate sharing this information OP. I just purchased my bike a couple weeks ago and went ahead and checked my VIN to be safe and I too was included. Going to try and call my dealer first thing Monday and get an appointment setup even though I still only have 135 miles and no stall yet. Better safe than sorry; especially for free.

I doubt this was voluntary.

Dear Kawasaki Motorcycle Owner:

This notice has been sent to you in accordance with requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

I am not in the US and this statement does not make it appear this was voluntary by Kawasaki in the US. Unless Kawasaki Canada gets the same order from Transport Canada I doubt I will be seeing this notice unless Kawasaki Canada stands up and does the right thing. It's an issue for me but not enough that it can't wait.

I see no recalls on our bikes in the UK

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/

For non UK readers, VOSA is the government agency that tests (type approval) and licenses vehicles for the UK roads.

Just called the dealer who did my fork, and I said I would like to make an appt for the ECU recall on my bike.

He said it`s a misprint and there is no recall..

Lol, just playing.. he asked for my VIN, and entered it in, and said NP, that what`s going to happen is, he is going to order the part with the VIN, and when it comes in, he`ll call me to schedule a appt.
