I led a bike race and couldn't find the switch for Hazard flashers? Am I missing or is there none? Kind of odd, all my other motorcycles had flashers.

no hazard flashers on this. bmw's do and some harley's do, but not this bike.

im sure if you want one there will be a DIY kit to make one up for any motorcycle, and goolge will lead the way on that one

i went hunting today to see if i can find an answer to this. I found this on another forum and shows how to make the 250r indicators flash like hazard lights

http://www.kawiforums.com/ninja-250r/180126-diy-ninja-250r-hazard-lights.html#post2474279

((if the above forum page ever vanishes i have a backup of it here ))

i have compared the 250r wiring against the 300 wiring & i cant see any reason why we cant do the same thing to the 300

i have been hunting for ideas for parts for the switch. you could mount it in the stock switch gear if you want or make a small bracket & attach it to that near a leaver or similar.

some ideas

water proof hood

mini switch
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=ST0300

diodes
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=ZR1018

these should all work nicely

a more expensive idea is to buy one of these

http://www.kriss.com/hazardflasher.php

if you look at the right side switch gear (where the indicators are) there is a small square plug/hole. that is a cover for a hazard switch. just need to find a switch to got into it.

a quick google shows this

the important bit we want out of there is this
Hi! Had the same complaint about my Ninja 500, but here is the answer to it: They don't make anything for the latest models, but there are still parts available for an older model liter-Ninja. I bought this after a long talk to Kawasaki tech support: Part# 46091-1857 Housing-Assy-Control. It's a 'plug-n-play' thing. All the plugs fit, no need to replace the choke lever or anything. It takes about 15 minutes of work, and that's only because I couldn't get my fingers easily behind the front fairings. No need to take it to the dealership for expensive hourly rates.

i dont know if this will fit the ninja 300 or not, but the button looks like it will

another idea is to search ebay on "motorcycle hazard switch" and you will find one of these for under $4

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Motorcyc...tch-Button-/321145526382?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ac5c3d86e

27-07-2013 - tested this idea today, the wiring from the 250 is the same as the 300 when it comes to how the indicators are wired up. the lights on the dash also light up with it. im just waiting on the ebay motorcycle hazard switch to arrive & i can put it all together

i taped in to the wires with a positap adaptor at the flasher as well as the indicator wires

www.posi-lock.com/posiplug.html

part number EX130RR

upgraded the relay a few weeks ago in readiness for this project, im using a "tridon hd12pac"

lol, no mate , im just one man, who is a self confessed motorcycle nut, who loves to experiment & tinker with DIY projects & whos life is organised in such a way i can spend *way* to many hours on this forum, lol

Battery power and most importantly life. Hazard lights are originally intended with the standard that it has to be able to operate for X amount of time with the vehicle turned off but still able to start. Standard motorcycle batteries have relatively low amps/h compared to a car or truck battery but still have very similar starter requirements. Many of those Harleys and BMWs that have hazards on them are the larger touring models with all the extra electrical crap and have bigger capacity batteries to compensate for it. They can sit on the side of the road for a couple hours with the hazards on and supposedly still crank. Also, Cruizin's mod if it taps into the same relay as the turn signals, is connected to the "switched" portion of the bike's electrical system instead of the non-switched portion. Means it only works when the key is turned on, unlike regular hazards which tap directly into the battery and have to operate without the key. This bike stock I don't think has anything that draws power with the key column in the off position other than maybe the clock. It IS there though as there are some spare fuses and it's pretty easy to tap directly into the battery if you want to, but on a small capacity battery like ours, I don't really see the point. Something like a simple alarm can drain our battery in a matter of two weeks when on a car, it'd take months to do the same on a healthy battery.

you could also go one step further & build a "wig-wag" flasher as well , like the police / emergency services use where the left & right indicators flash backward & forwards. i went hunting and found this wiring diagram

this should work, but it might be an idea to put a diode on the output to the left & right lights as we did in the above hazard light setup.

if you use a decent flasher like a tridon HD12PAC you wont need the rheostat , power resistor, extra bulb as the hd12pac flashes regardless of load

This may prove helpful in trying to source an OEM hazard switch. Wanted to document it here for everyone. It lists a part number; however, not sure if this exact part number is all that we need to get the oem hazard switch.

http://www.zx-9r.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=46369&sid=7bed2958f90f0d5bb0d344ae129ab2bc

looking @ these photos it looks like the same size as the holes on the 300 switch gear. what we really need is a photo of the inside of the left side switch gear of the 300 but if the hazard switch doesnt fit then it should be very close

Used, but good evidence that the switch is OEM, now the question is figuring out the way to wire it up with the harness attached to this control. In my research I found that some come with choke controls, which obviously we don't need for our bike. I'll see if I can find a left control assembly that doesn't have choke controls.

i assume it is just a switch with no diodes attached to it. that being the case it gets wired to the bike using the exact same wiring as what i used for my hazard switch

i have been asked to make another video about this as the first one was a bit quick, it is still uploading and will take about 5 hours from now to finish, once done you can see it here

the poistap adaptors i used are part number - EX-130RR

buy them off ebay or an electrical shop. this link

http://www.posi-lock.com/instructions1.html

shows how to put them on a wire & use them. hope this helps

yeah you answered it yourself. it could be done though, but not worth the time/effort.

you could setup another of the switches i have on my left handle bar on the right side. off that you could setup another flasher relay that is independent of the original one. you could wire your new relay via fuse direct to the battery for power & connect it to the main wires to the indicators as shown above via the green wire.this would give you a separate hazard light circuit that would run regardless off the on/off switch with your ignition keys

I have a 12 Kawasaki ninja 250r I bought this bike from someone and said the turn signal don't work, I know it may sound funny but they put them on the bike for a reason and I want them to work. They put a led brake light on the bake of the bike cut some wires near the back of the seat behind the battery I got the lights to flash one time and nothing after that. When you turn the signal on they just stay on I have replaced the flasher, but I have 2 plugs wires that don't have anything going to them and I can not find a picture to show me how it should look behind the battery where the wires are I don't understand the diagram AT ALL. Can someone please help me? If someone need to see a pic I will be greatfully willing to take a pic so you can see off hand.

I had flashers on my 1000. It was nice to have them when I needed to pull off the road for some reason. I can't remember if the ignition switch had to be on or not; I kinda doubt it. After reading this thread, I might look into putting them on the 300 when I do the cruise install since the bike will be torn apart anyway.
