Starter bike

Hi everyone,

Curious to know your opinions if I should start with a 300 or a 600.

I'm a pretty big guy at 5 11 200 pounds so I'm worried about bike size and power.

Any opinion is welcomed.

I'm 5' 11" 225 lbs 29" inseam, and I have no worries with a 300. Judging by your title, this must be your first bike. I would highly recommend starting off with a 300.

The same applies to you as the small dude who was asking the same question. You'll fit on both, get what you want, if you don't trust your right hand get the 300.

The 300 will be infinitely cheaper than the 600 though, especially for a first time rider.

Weight doesn't seem like an issue - to me the issue would arise if you're extremely leggy.

I'm 5' 10.5" 203lbs (without riding gear), and my 300 seem to provide enough punch for my weight. It'll good to know what kinda of riding you plan on doing (a lot of highway)

Don't start with a super sport. If you are worrying about the 300 being uncomfortable for your build then try a Ninja 650.

I'd get the 300, slap on new tires and learn how to ride really well, then get a 600.

Husband is 5' 10" 280 lbs and he rides my 300 with no issues at all.

One thing to consider is that since you're a new rider (as am I) the 300 is literally about half the cost to insure. It's also a lot less expensive to repair if you have an oopsy and drop it.

But keep in mind, do you plan to keep the 300 for a while or just learn then progress to a larger cc bike. If that is the case, and as much as we dig the 300, may be better to snag a used 250, then move up.
That way you don't have a sizeable chunk of $$ in the starter bike, that you have to overcome when (if) you get ready for the bigger ride.

200 pound is only 90 kilogram. im 74Kg and take pillions all the time, the bike does it in its stride.from memory the max weight it will carry is about 180 kilo or 396 pounds. the bike till take it, you just might need to open the throttle a little more but it can be done
