2017 z650

KawasakiZ650.com - The Largest 2017+ Kawasaki Z650 Forum And Community!

It's basically just a naked version of the new Ninja 650. I'm digging it, thinking about selling my ZX10R and picking up a more practical Z650 next spring/summer.

There are a few Z650 reviews already but no Ninja 650.

Not to be a cynical bah humbug, but a 10 year old used SV650 is a better bike. Or if you gotta have new, I would waaaay take a 2017 SV650 over this.

Care to elaborate?

What makes SV650 that much superior to the Z650?

I had a Ninja 650 and hated it. Horrible suspension, vibration, and the engine didn't sound very good probably because if the firing order. If I had to take an inline twin 650, it would be a FZ07. It has a 270-degree firing order giving it a much better personality and sound. But the sound and feel of an SV650 is one of the best bikes on the road.

The Suzuki v-twin is a much more "tractable" motor than the Kawasaki parallel-twin. I agree that it also sounds a whole lot better.

ohh ok..here's what the review said so I thought the Z650 was a decent bike in terms of weight and price. I didn't think about the sound.

"Speaking of weight, the Z650 weighs 406 lbs., while the FZ-07 weighs 397 lbs. and the SV650 a claimed 430 lbs. (add more to each for ABS models). It’ll sell for $6,999, versus $7,199 for the FZ-07 and an identical $6,999 for the SV (again, add a few hundred dollars for ABS)."

I've not read any reviews of the modern Zs but the older reviews seemed to always say that the suspension wasn't great. I wonder if they've updated that.

*just read the link: "Suspension is okay but not great".

Looks like there a slip on exhaust will be out of the equation. It'll be either a full exhaust system or stay stock? I'll take the FZ-07 over this.

Riding it like I financed it.
