$4200 out the door for a 2016 couple of posts back seems too low. Sometimes they give you a better price and commit you to a higher interest loan or perhaps it isn't really an out the door price, but who knows. I think the dealer would lose money on a straight out the door price of $4200 anywhere in the US that included taxes, registration, license, shipping, setup, and any other extras they add on. They cost way more than that around here anyway.

The negotiated bike cost was $4400 for a 2016 Kawi 300, non-ABS, but tacking on tax, delivery, and other state documentation costs added $1000. I didn't finance, and I didn't get the additional warranty. So the final OTD cost was $5400.

I noted they might wiggle on the bike cost, but you are definitely stuck with that delivery cost. I suppose it's probably not out of line for freight costs, the weight of the bike, and the massive crating they do to ship. We do want it here in one piece. But damn...was a chunk. Don't even get me started on taxes...

Yes. That sounds right. Dealers do some creative accounting by moving charges, discounts, allowances around between this and that. The taxes are a fixed rate, but the number they use as the selling price can be moved up or down. They rob Peter to pay Paul, in other words. That is why it is crucial to get their out the door price. Otherwise they can make you think the price of the bike is good, but they charge more for other things. Some dealers drop set-up charges and even delivery fees and use that as a selling point...but then they really add that onto the price of the bike. Trade-ins give them even one more number to play around with. Every salesman I've dealt with tries to first get you to agree with a price for the bike or the trade-in value, but it is in your best interest to insist on an out the door price that includes everything so you can compare between one dealer and another. $5400 is pretty close to the average out the door price, more in California and a few other places, but at $5400, you aren't getting screwed.

I got the last NEW 2014 Available in Canada for $4,515 CDN OTD ($3,995) plus fees. so about equal to $3,385 USD.
They are storing it for free until April and the Warranty will start then in Spring.
There were a few 2015's left for $1K more, ( so $4,125 USD ) but for only $1,500 more I could have got a 2016 in nice FLAT Black or Burnt Orange. ( so $4,500 USD for a 2016 ) ABS add $500
I Just wanted to get a cheap bike because Insurance is so high in Toronto.

I just got my 2015 (still new, only 1 mile) Ninja 300 SE non ABS for an OTD price of 4131. Was a great deal.

Six months ago, I got my brand new (0 Km) Ninja ABS SE 2015 for 5500CAD (taxes and all included) wich is about 4162USD. The reason is because 2016 models were selling, so previous year gets a good rebate.
