The 10 Most Reliable Motorcycle Companies

Here at Motorcycle.com we get to ride all of the newest, latest, and greatest motorcycles on the planet. However, more often than not, our time with each bike spans the course of weeks, maybe months (but definitely not years), as new bikes are constantly flowing through our proverbial garages, waiting to get tested. This means we have reviews of almost every motorcycle on the market, but it also means that we lack firsthand experience learning about long-term durability and maintenance. So, when our readers ask about the reliability of a certain make or model, it’s a difficult question to answer, as reliability testing requires ownership for several years – something we simply aren’t in a position to provide.

Thankfully, the folks at Consumer Reports have compiled a motorcycle reliability study, gathering information from more than 11,000 riders, sharing their experiences on more than 12,000 motorcycles purchased new between 2008 and 2014. With this data, CR adjusted for mileage ridden over a 12-month span and estimated failure rates. Like golf, the lower the number (or percentage, in this case), the better the score. CR’s language in the link above is vague, using words like “trouble prone” and not defining what constitutes a failure. Nonetheless, the results are still relevant. Here they are, from worst to best.

Why do I have to click to see each one? So you can get some extra points for advertising!

If you want to keep posting your click bait here then why can't you post the the entire article here?

Motorcycle.com OWNS this forum. And it's not click bait.

Honestly Kawasaki was really bad back in the days.
Its doing good now, but in the 90s to early 2000s, oil leakage was a problem with Kawasaki.
Only hardcore fans rode Kawasaki in Japan and the old saying "If there is an a oil leakage, its proof there is oil in it" lol
As you can see, Kawasaki still scores lowest of top 4 Japanese brands.

I thought Ducati would score the worst but I guess they are starting to change.

I thought Ducati would score the worst but I guess they are starting to change.
I did too. And I'm absolutely shocked that BMW fared worse than Ducati. Whodathunkit? While it's obvious the Jap bikes would lead the pack in quality I thought for sure Honda would be numero uno. Of course, I'm basing my opinion on the smaller bikes that are sold here, mostly 300cc and below. They are absolutely bulletproof, even in the extremely tough tropical conditions, and considering that most Thai owners typically do zero preventative maintenance and very infrequent oil changes. Of course, all the Japanese bikes hold up well, but Honda outsells all other brands combined because of reliability. Gotta admit that Yamaha has been doing extremely well here in recent years and seems to be nipping at Honda's heels lately. But for some bizarre reason both Suzuki and Kawasaki are at the bottom of the pack, sales-wise, here in Thailand. I have no idea why.

The article was informative. You must think internet hosting is free.

#7 ·
Hosting can be free if you use your own server, it is the bandwidth, the actual internet connection that costs money. And by looking at who actually owns kawasakininja300.com I'm 100% sure they run their own servers.

And they make more in advertising than you would think.
Why?
Well here is a list of just powersport web sites that the company who owns kawasakininja300.com actually owns.

In fact the company, Verticalscope Inc., owns over 600 forums from cars to pets to Nokia phones.

In 2015, Torstar Corp., which owns the Toronto Star newspaper bought a 56% share in Verticalscope for $200,000,000 (two hundred million).

As it is a private company, estimated revenues per year are between one million to five million dollars.

So please again explain to me again why I have to go for the click bait and why they can't post the full article here?

I found it interesting that the main 4 Japanese brands were almost identical in reliability reviews.

Someone doesn't understand what "clickbait" is. Lol
